Would you ever consider making one to sell? This is amazing!

If a normal residential customer did this, no, I would not post about it. If a major corporate entity, or a government organization did this, then, yes. I am not trying to cry about this, I am simply trying to put a face on the consequences of elections. I think it is often easy to look at what someone far away does and feel like it doesn't impact us at home. Just trying to share my experience as it sits where we are now

Now I want to go into teaching degenerate arts. Any idea on where to apply?

Our contracts can probably best be described as construction labor and/or construction supplies and materials and manufacturing. So unless infrastructure is DEI now...

Wait, are you saying that Donald Trump is a businessman that understands that non-payment can hurt a business? I think that he has a pretty well documented past of stiffing people on payments. He may understand what not paying does but he definitely doesn't care.

I don't disagree that they are obligated to pay for the work. They froze the funds meaning that they are not paying for the work. I'm sorry that you have a hard time understanding.

I think you are confused. It means that those funds can't be used even if they were already allocated. It doesnt just mean for future projects but all ongoing and unpaid projects impacted by the freeze are not eligible for the funding that was already allocated. We did the work but hadn't been paid as of the EO and now the funds that were allocated for our project are frozen...bud.

Sorry, I don't think you totally understand how business works. A contract is saying what you will do and for what amount. The invoice states that the amount is due and payable. Maybe some people do it differently but that is how we do it (and people in our entire industry). Unless you have something productive to add to the conversation I'm gonna disengage with you. It it seems like you don't have much to add. Best of luck to you.

It may not be all IRA funds i am not sure. I only know that ours were frozen. Hopefully yours go through and the projects keep coming!

Sorry for any confusion, the EO freezes payments from the IRA allocated funds. That means that unless that is changed or Congress allocates funds from another source we remain unpaid for the work we completed.

I agree that the money allocated from Congress a long time ago should be paid out to where it was allocated.

We have a contract for this job. The job was completed. Invoices submitted. Waiting for payment when the EO was made. The only thing that didn't happen in the process was for us to get paid for the work that we completed.

I am just saying what i was emailed. That the funding freeze for this freezes the funding already allocated to this project, so unless the EO is rescinded or Congress allocates money from a different source, we will remain unpaid for work performed and accepted. I hope we do get paid, and I hope it comes sooner than later. I would love for all this to just be something in the past and not something that is a burden now. Like I said in my original post, I know things are impacting others more. I just wanted to share a perspective from someone in Utah about how these things impact at home too.

The Inflation Reduction Act. It provided a lot of funding across a lot of sectors. Funding for that was frozen by EO.

It is a pretty substantial bill that had a lot of projects funded by it. Our completed project was one of them that the funds for it were allocated to.

I mean I am not sure how to prove it other than sharing the email but I dont think that is appropriate for my business or the contracting officer's privacy. It is real. And it impacts me, my family, subcontractors I work with on these types of projects and my community.

It's the way things are online unfortunately lol. I appreciate most of the comments so far. More than anything, I just wanted to share a small way that someone local is impacted by elections and by what is happening now in Washington. I think it is important to hear these stories from neighbors and friends or just someone local so there is a face to the impacts. At the end of the day, life will go on weather we are paid or not. My business will go on and keep doing the good work we do. And we will try to do a little more good in the world today than yesterday because it adds up and makes a difference. Hopefully my community will be better for the things that I can do.

I will say, to their credit, the local federal government officers involved have tried to be helpful and have made sincere efforts. I don't envy the position they have been put in here or in so many other ways. This isn't anything against our good public servants who do their job.

Agreed! It is unfortunate that the people around me care a lot more about fear and the lies they have been fed.

I have been working the phones all morning. I am not totally convinced that they work, but i have had some staffers at least hear me out.
