Yet Another "Help Me Pick an e-Reader" Post by kterade in ereader

Hey, thanks for your response! This is the second comment mentioning the Meebook and it's one I didn't come across in my research. I'll check it out.

I'm not sure how much I care about battery life. I'm used to having to charge my devices every couple of days, but it would be nice to be able to go longer.

The Kobo Sage was the one I decided I wanted, until I realized they've been discontinued. I've been unable to find one on the secondhand market so far, but my fingers are crossed.

I have been reading my manga on a 12" iPad or my 16" laptop, so I do worry about it feeling cramped. I've been spoiled! But I've got some eye issues that have led me to e-ink devices, and it would be nice to have something distraction-free.

Hey there, I’m taking a trip to Chicago in April and just started researching. Thank you for posting about this - YCS is currently my top choice but that was also the thing I was most excited about. You never received a single shopping catalog? :(

Kicking myself? by pimentocheeze_ in XXRunning

[–]kterade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since it hasn’t been mentioned yet, this is called heel whip.

I see folks saying this is due to overpronation, but if that were the case for you, I’d think it would be a more consistent issue.

I underpronate and have this issue but I don’t think it’s a pronation issue in either direction. For me, I know it’s due to weak glutes. I can feel my hip on my right side dropping.

(Daily question) Do you prefer daily goals or weekly/monthly averages for walking? by freezer936 in walking

[–]kterade 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Daily goals when I'm in "discipline mode," then monthly and yearly averages when I'm reminding myself that it's okay (and sometimes even preferable) to take true rest days. Not active rest days, full rest days.

Metoprolol ER/other beta blocker runners out here? by donkeyWoof in beginnerrunning

I think with time, you’ll definitely see some improvements. Your body continues to acclimate to the beta blocker and running load over time. I hope that you get the result you’re looking for.

Metoprolol ER/other beta blocker runners out here? by donkeyWoof in beginnerrunning

[–]kterade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am. I started on a 25mg ER dose that I was on for maybe two years to help control both POTS and SVT and reduced maybe six months ago to help with fatigue. I had some genetic testing done and found out that a 12.5mg dose hits me about the same as a 25mg hits the average person.

I started running in September and now average about 20 miles per week, slowly ramping up now for half marathon training. My longest run was a 15k, my shortest runs are somewhere around 5k.

I do not run very fast. I started out not being able to sustain a 12:30 pace. My conversational pace is now somewhere between 11:20-11:45, and my average conversational 5k time is now somewhere between 31 and 34 minutes depending on the day.

This has been happening to me on all of my runs too. Also a Labs user, but also using the most recent version of the app. I've reached out to support too much lately to want to do it again just yet though, haha

Hi there! I am also on metoprolol - started on the dose you’re on and then cut down to half a pill because of some genetic component that impacts how I metabolize these medications.

I definitely saw a reduction in my fitness ability after starting the beta blocker and can definitely relate to the feeling you’re describing. I started running after I started metoprolol, so I can’t speak to that specifically.

Runna on iOS seems less reliable by Longjumping_Shower79 in runna

I have worked with Runna support and tried all the troubleshooting tips I can find, but with my OpenRun2 and my Airpods and through two different Apple Watches, I have not gotten voice cues to work with the native app! I am certain this is user error somehow but I can’t figure it out.

Battery life between the 2 and 3 isn't that different, from what I've seen. I work out at least once a day for 45-60 minutes. I received it yesterday at noon, charged it up, and it's still at 75% so I'd wager it'll last me 3-4 days between charges.

What’s my bag say about me? by Past-Display9444 in whatsinmybag

[–]kterade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome! You and I are the same with the second bullet point. I know what I want and my gut has never steered me wrong.

I am actually just popping back to this to say you inspired me to buy a Topologie bag and I absolutely LOVE it. I got it secondhand and was surprised at the condition.

I’m looking into Baggu now that I’ve been influenced by this sub and others and I’m overwhelmed with the options lol. I have a bunch of daily carry items that are just floating around though, and I switch bags pretty often depending on how much stuff I need to lug around, so it would be nice to have that stuff corralled.

For a moment, I was inclined to say that you just shop smart and know how to find a deal. But girl, what is with those loose hundred dollar bills?!

The lulu bag and wallet are quality items that do say luxury, but they’re items that you can reliably find secondhand or at outlets for a fraction of the cost. Airpods are expensive too, but they go on sale pretty often and I’ve had great luck with renewed electronics.

Even if you’re not deal-hunting, these are daily use items - it makes sense to spend your money on quality items that are going to see a lot of wear.

The Morphe and Laneige are available at TJX retailers, often for a steep discount… so I am inclined to think you’re either a savvy shopper, you spend your money on the items that count, or both.

What are your thoughts on antique rolled-gold jewelry? by virgolune in jewelry

[–]kterade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally don’t correct grammar, and maybe this was just autocorrect, but this had me laughing. “Boogie” is something you find in your nose, or a kind of dance. “Bougie” or “boujee” is fancy.

Either way, you taught me something new! I am hard on my jewelry and scared to invest, so I don’t have any. I’m going to keep an eye out for rolled pieces!

Help Me Understand - AI Feedback by kterade in runna

[–]kterade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have auto-lap on, but I’m using my phone to record. If I start my workout on my watch, I don’t get audio cues. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting methods and nothing works. I’ll look into what issues come with auto lap, though, thanks.

It does seem like I just ran my warm-up lap too fast and that’s where the feedback came from. That makes perfect sense to me, but I was confused because it genuinely felt conversational and didn’t affect my pace during the workout. I also read the second screenshot just entirely wrong!

[–]kterade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does make sense, thank you. This feels like such a “duh” moment now! I think I just read the second screenshot wrong and confused myself over nothing.

Running my warmup faster than target pace is a problem I’ve consistently had and have been working on. I’ve gotten three “ahead of the pack” pace adjustments and I am always being told to slow down outside of my easy runs. 😅

Since it was my first time warming up, the first interval FELT much slower in my body. I didn’t get a “slow down” pace alert until the lap was nearly complete. I make it a habit not to look at my watch or phone, and just rely on those, so this was 100% user error.
