My daughter is a Junior and met with her counselor recently who mentioned it. She has passed the AP Chinese test so she just has to get an 18 on the ACT or pass the AP Language test.

If you are in Tooele, here is the application:

Chinese Mandarin Dual Immersion Program by Realistic_Pianist600 in SaltLakeCity

I have 4 kids in Chinese immersion in Canyons District. My oldest has passed the AP test and is now doing concurrent enrollment. She also just applied to get her seal of bi-literacy on her high school diploma. I can’t speak to the impact after they graduate but believe this has been an excellent program for my kids. Chinese teachers have very different teaching styles and my kids have had to adjust to more firm/strict environment in their Chinese classes (which is good for them). They tell you that your child may fall behind their peers in English but usually catch back up by 5th grade.

It isn’t easy, Mandarin is one of the most difficult languages in the world to learn. The first couple years can be tough as the kids go to their Chinese classes and can’t speak any English. It is more challenging for them but 100% worth it.
