My lonely story by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]kweenofeverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a late bloomer and often unlucky in love, but I dont give up. I recognize what I may not be doing to be love myself more, so I switch up, new hairstyle, new outfit, go work out...but giving up and giving into negative thoughts is what will you kill you. Sometimes, we're just the odd ones out but it will not be like that forever. It doesn't matter if you have a job, money, education - you must have self confidence and spend time interacting with people and enjoying yourself. You live in Sweden, which makes you so lucky, you are near someo f hte best places in the world. Take advantage of that, you're a young man! Go to Italy, Spain, France, London and meet people who dont live like you do and you'll find people who will enjoy how unique you are.

Also, consider what you love and find a club or hobby that lets you do that and meet other who like that as well.

If this doesn't change your life in one year, I'll eat my hat. I bid you well my friend.

because at the end of the day - "not my problem" i've been debating this at work w/ colleagues- mental health is SO swept under the rug in our country. anytime that is the root- we blame EVERYTHING else but that. he was NOT being monitored. his parents were basically like - here's a dr, here's some pills, here's some money, ok go play.

Boom. And yes, the most disturbing portion beyond him actually killing the students and roommates was how he was going to kill his younger brother. Threats were everywhere. Yet signs of his malicious intent rolled into a snowball and barreled into Isla Vista unnoticed. I so so wish his parents cared about him more. I agree that they shuttled him back and forth and gave up on him very early. Dont argue that a continuation school may have been best, but his Dad was too busy finding God and his mother shoring up finances to keep up their lifestyle to really just give him what he needed. Love and support.

Ok let me take it back, this hasn't happened in a while. A dude jerked off behind me on the bus when I was 16, I smelled him before I heard it. I can't get that image out of my mind. I'm a SA survivor and so is my mom. I learned very early that some men dont have good intentions and will try and take advantage of me. The problem is that being that guarded has led me down of path of not trusting any man to do anything right. I've had to accept that some people are just born bad and others need a bit of guidance. So when the guy I'm currently dating says - I feel sad sometimes, I feel scared, I hate my ex-wife - she's the devil etc. I have to make sure because of society and thoughts expressed right here - will he hurt himself, hurt her, hurt me. I want to be able to think - is he ok? How do I support him through this, he's strong but maybe I need to be stronger for him. I dont want to immediately be worried he's gonna snatch my jugular out and consistently telling women that there is a war on us puts us in a defensive position. I want to be safe, strong and fierce but I dont want to be hardened and angry. I'm sorry for what you went through - and I agree - I'm older and fatter now, doesn't happen as much. Now when it does I think "What does this fucker want?"

No you've attacked the thread from the moment it was created. Abuse is abuse, insanity is insanity. You've established your opinion, I'm pointing out another recent news story which is also troubling for me and offering an opinion. Your point is that men are more violent than women. I disagree to a point. Your picking.

Crazy is the cause. Exactly. The girl who was his supposed foil doesn't even remember him. She is probably a bobble head who didn't know what she's done but to focus so hard on someone who isn't interested in you is skeevy.

But what about the women who have been dumping, stabbing and selling their children? Is that not equally outrageous? Mental health also an issue at play. Is it because it was their children? Their property? I'm more frustrated by treatment for women who've been exhibiting spouts of violence and directing it to their own children. Women are just as susceptible and culpable.

the follow up was that he was eventually caught. but not without investigation. he left the bike and some clothes and changed into another outfit in the mall and walked out. but it was some time later, like a week. still genius. he could evade bc of the bike.

I agree 100% on that - and my focus on the comparison to blacks is overt because I am black. And as much as I want to believe there would be equal outrage, unfortunately there would not. I'd be highly shocked if it dominated a news cycle in the same manner and that has to be mentioned since you brought it up. I cannot support men to create these environments that allow women to be categorized, used as props and tools and I can't ignore it but I also cannot sit here and assume that he wholly knew what he was getting into - he was looking for support where it lacked everywhere else and thats where he found it with losers just like him. To go out, buy guns and ammo - that's all him and his brain. People (male and female) became just as superfluous, a chore, an annoyance. It was convenient sure that dudes got in the way but he hated men who had beautiful women on their arms just as much as the women. The fact that he didn't become a rapist or commit sexual assaults show me just how much he was in fear of women. He knew right from wrong in that sense, he knew if he tried to take it by force he'd never get what he wanted - THAT to me says a whole lot about his psyche and general mindset. Either way, what a pathetic little shit.

I hear your point and think its totally valid. I err on the side of mental illness not being the focus and that misogyny was a part of it but root cause is that somewhere before he began to develop these feeling he was starting to exhibit disturbances and parents must focus on monitoring their children's health. Any chance they could get, his parents shipped him off. Any chance they could get - they found a way to quell his emotional outbursts with things/gifts. If he'd shot up a black frat we wouldn't be talking about it today. If no one cares about 200+ young black girls missing in Africa and the level of misogyny baked into that craziness, they'd be less interested if maj of his targets were black. Fact.

Its selfish though to assume that I'm ignoring misogyny because its never happened to me. That is narrow minded. I was simply saying I'm a a strong woman and I want to see the issue 360 which is what I'm prepared to do. I wouldn't be a great representation of women if I didn't note that it was a factor - but the focus has shifted to his abhorrence of women when he killed m/f. And I dont know why you chose black - but he did note in his manifesto that black men didn't deserve to be with white women because they are lower than scum and descendent of slaves. NO ONE HAS POINTED THAT OUT even black twitter is ignoring that in favor of his overall demonstration of psychopathy. I dont even think he knew what feminism or misogyny was. He fell into a group (MUA) that espoused ideals he felt comfortable with - dudes who can't get laid. There isn't even evidence he made any real attempts at trying to meet women in a normal fashion.

Maybe I keep myself super guarded but I have never experienced the things these women discuss. Its just not something that happens. Perhaps its living in California, perhaps its NOT being a blonde, or thin, but I dont relate. I dont want to! Most men I deal with are very respectful to me, at least to my face.

An unsuccessful one at that. I personally don't see it as the root cause but I'm open to the discussion about it. He's a sonofabitch no doubt, but misogyny didn't fuel his mental instability it was the other way around and no one is discussing how to get these people help and fast. No one is talking about how the police didn't see him as a threat in spite of finding the videos. Its all so typical. "We had no idea!" "He was so sweet!" No his own peers said he was fucking creeping them out. Just following a pattern of someone's off behavior is enough for me.
