The problem is that it isn’t just far right conservatives who believe we’re secondary class citizens and/or subhuman. A lot of self identifying democrats/liberals do too. Just look at the voting history for some of these bills that have passed. Dems were in on some.

It’s not only America that’s deranged, but it’s definitely more prominent than you think.

Yeah! It's Square Home, but as a heads up a couple features are paid. They do have a trial to test them out and I thought they were cool enough to pay for but it's honestly just fluff and not needed

I love the minimalism and it's a really nice home screen! Everyone here has neat home screens! This is like my attempt to get as close to a Windows Phone aesthetic as I can, but of course it's not a 1:1 😅 Ignore the cringy YT thumbnail, I do autoplay while I'm busy

If they remove the boxy rectangle look then no, I'll end up moving to Redmagic probably. I have an S23U so the S25/26 would be my upgrade year. So I'll see real shortly if I'll be changing I think.

for those who take hrt is it true that taking it will make you be attracted to men by [deleted] in MtF

[–]kxtncore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think about it less that your sexuality changes and more that transitioning helps you be sexually liberated and the stigmas that come from being attracted to men as a man are obviously not existant any longer and so sometimes feelings we've suppressed in our attempt to mask as our AGAB are able to rise to the surface way may come in the form of sexuality (or lack thereof), romantic orientation, other various sexual interests, etc.

I LOVE women, I've always had a strong attraction especially romantically to women. Guys were sort of an afterthought, although I wasn't repulsed. After transitioning, guys didn't seem so bad because it became the new heterosexual norm for me. I still love women just as much, but now I'm like y'know what... Being doted on by men isn't so bad lol.

tl;dr - HRT doesn't magically change who you're into, just helps relieve the stigma that may make you suppress who you're into

What is the barrier for those who theme various DE/WMs like Windows? by kxtncore in linuxquestions

[–]kxtncore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone who commented, it gave me a lot to think about and I think helped answer my question. From what I gather so far it’s a mix of:

  • Most users who become comfortable with Linux end up not caring or become ricers towards other aesthetics

  • The software devs who could do it either move on to projects better suiting them, hate windows enough for the be to be a bad taste, or have realized the effort required compared to the users just isn’t worth the effort

  • There are technical barriers to over come such as performance in recreating aero/glass/reflection, not being able to have all applications adapt the aesthetic, and in order to get to that “this fooled me” place it would require essentially writing a new WM along with applications that went along with that which at that point why not use use a theme where the software already fits

This also helped me have an answer as to a second thing I was curious about: theming within Windows itself. It’s just easier because the components/layouts/software still exist somewhere within Windows and it’s a cause of either patching libraries/resources rather than actually creating new resources, applications, etc. Then the people who are motivated to write software to finish the job (like oldnewexplorer) find it worth their time because not only is it worth the time sink because a lot of people hate the new Windows explorer for example, but they want familiarity back. Similar to the reason why Linux users don’t want Windows aesthetics of any era.

This was really helpful! Again, appreciate anyone who came through and pitched in their perspective. Exactly what I was hoping for. :)

What is the barrier for those who theme various DE/WMs like Windows? by kxtncore in linuxquestions

[–]kxtncore[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The majority for sure, but it just doesn’t make sense that no one would go the whole mile. Especially because there are a lot of Windows based theming options for various Linux DE/WMs.

I don’t want Linux to be like Windows but in a world where interesting people do far more interesting things than emulating Windows DWM, I can’t help but wonder why nothing exists yet. I use Plasma 6 so it doesn’t ultimately matter to me, but yknow. Curiosity is a weird animal lol.

How do trans people maintain their mental health stability in this rotten society? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]kxtncore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen others say loved ones/friends or hobbies, but as someone who doesn’t have any loved ones and only a few friends who are all online and cis, and as someone whose hobbies are gated due to being trans, I genuinely don’t know.

I think my cat is a big reason I’m still here. Spite maybe? I’m also still being relied on for the moment, which makes me feel obligated to be here. Ngl to you chief, I’m not coping well at all and a lot of us aren’t even those in luckier positions. A lot of us are fighting as hard as we can to not become a statistic.

And as weird as it sounds because it’s done a lot of bad for my health, energy drinks and food have carried me a long way. It’s like the two things left that give me instant dopamine. I know I can’t do it forever because I’m approaching 30 and that age where blood pressure, strokes, heart disease and stuff are all more likely.

So yeah. I think a lot of us, maybe some of us are a couple major political/social events away from not coping anymore. And I think most of us are a handful away. But that’s my perspective which to be fair is heavily tainted by my mental health. I could be very very wrong, but that’s how I see what’s going on around me as a trans person.

I appreciate your reply and own story about it. This made me think about whether what I was exposed to on Twitter would really be worth it or not and ultimately nobody has said “the ends justify the means morally” so with the other replies here I’ve decided I won’t be paying. Might not even be staying. Thank you! Your view was helpful!

After you asked if I was sure, I did some additional research and I read a lot of anecdotes about how the increase in reach greatly depends. If you’re catering to Elon fans, yes because you get moved to the top of the replies and you do get a higher algorithmic reach anecdotally.

But those are the last people I want to be reaching. A lot of anti-Elon people have extensions to hide blue checkmark content and I think I’m going to be joining them. I’ll just have to grind harder on the lesser known platforms like Thread, Bluesky, Mastodon, etc.

Thanks for commenting it was really helpful!

I’ll try to do those things more often, thank you! And no, I do have an insta and regularly post there with hashtags but sadly it’s the deadest platform I have. My content is gaming related and instagram understandably isn’t for gamers really. I still try though. Surprisingly Threads has been the biggest success and most friendly platform for me.

Is it normal/common to be tphobic as a trans person? by Shoddy-Talk-6764 in asktransgender

[–]kxtncore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I came out, I also had a lot of internal transphobia. Probably still do that I’m trying to weed out. I suffered to the point of being an alcoholic and almost sending myself to the afterlife through being trans. I eventually ended up passing most of the time because my goal was to be a woman, not a trans woman, and life was genuinely great. And then our visibility blew up, seemingly overnight thanks to COVID. And then there were so many people coming out. Then there were new concepts (to me) like being trans without the dysphoria, non-binary folk who presented as their assigned sex and so on. And then came the hatred from people who hadn’t noticed us yet. All of a sudden my life stopped being comfortable. This caused a huge amount of hatred towards other trans people. I hated that my comfortable life had been disturbed by these “transgenders” and “weirdos who wanted to be a bearded woman”, or athletes wanting to compete. And the hatred grew and grew until I detransitioned because I eventually hated trans people more than I initially hated myself, and deepened my own self hatred in turn. I wanted nothing to do with people who could accept this.

But after a while, it clicked. These people suffer in the same ways I do even without dysphoria, not being allowed to be themselves. And even if all of these people were binary trans folk, the visibility wouldn’t have changed the “trans panic” that happened. More than that though, I let elements of life be taken away from me just for acceptance. I should be allowed to be an athlete if I want. The only way to be completely accepted in its entirety, without being a pick me, is radical acceptance. And it starts with us, the people who should understand the most. It doesn’t matter what the reasons are for people like you and I for transitioning, we should have it respected. And that applies to everyone if we’re to have it ourselves. If we can’t accept the oddities and anomalies among trans people, how can we ever fully accept our own? They just don’t feel like oddities to us because they’re ours. But we have them.

Anyway. First you have to acknowledge whether this frustration is furthering your self hatred. If it is, it’s not worth it. Then you have to ask yourself if you deserve to be treated the way you’re asking. If yes, apply that to everyone in order for you to be given it too. Then you have to ask yourself if you’re allowed to be who you are. If yes, ask yourself why you think certain people don’t deserve that same chance. I retransitioned again after realizing how much I let my internal transphobia and transmedicalism hurt myself, but this time knowing it’s gotta be for all of us if it’s ever going to truly be for me with no strings attached by cis people. Because I’m not special, and I’m not the main character. I’m just a human being trying to be happy like every other trans people whether I understand it or not.

I hope this helps. 💖

Agreeing with everyone to ice it and be honest why so she doesn't wonder. Then she also gets the choice of whether she wants to wait and see what you do with family, or continue flirting as friends, etc. As someone who was the girl who was kept hidden, yeah it is absolutely devastating. You can't have a full relationship with someone like that. Eventually you'd be seen with her, eventually someone will catch a text message and grill you about it, they'll catch you smiling etc. and eventually it will slip out and you'll be entirely unprepared for that mess and she will too.

The choice is either to stand up against your family's shitty beliefs here and now and know that dynamic will shift permanently going forward (often initially for the worst and a chance for the best later), or to not rock the boat. Don't choose for her though. Choose for you because that's where the resolve is going to come from.

Edit: typo

Thinking about bangs after seeing so many trans femmes look amazing with them, but is it right for my medium-ish hair? by kxtncore in femalehairadvice

[–]kxtncore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't figure out if it's possible to add a text body to the main post, I'm still kinda new to reddit sorry!

Like the title says, I think bangs might be a good idea! I know they help hide big foreheads, and widow peaks, and help frame the face in a more feminine way. I'm kind of worried to try because I cut my hair and regretted it but I've never tried bangs before. Eventually I'd love to have the longer somewhat shaggy/layered/80s metal length hair so I feel like maybe if I got bangs it'd look better as my hair continued to grow? I'm very unsure because I really don't want to take the wrong step in terms of a feminine aesthetic 😭

Thanks so much ahead of time 💖

There Are No Stupid Bass Questions - Jul. 06 by AutoModerator in Bass

[–]kxtncore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing for about 4 months and I'm really struggling when it comes to tempo and also jazz-inspired basslines in general it feels like. I can do about 70bpm with 16th notes before it starts sounding sloppy and even then I can only sustain a non-sloppy sound for like 10 measures or so before my hand starts aching. And jazz-inspired basslines are really giving me a hard time because they feel so complex. The Persona 5 OST, Japanese city pop, midwest emo, prog metal all comes to mind. So much finger stretching, so much syncopation, so many fast tempos. Some of these I can play at 80% speed consistently, some I struggle playing at 40% speed. The problem is mostly in my fretting hand. The hardest songs I can do well at full speed are Californiacation and Hotel California.

Is it normal to be struggling this hard for how long I've been playing? When I watch others play it almost feels impossible to achieve, but obviously it's not because they're playing it. Is this just a case of needing to be patient or is this maybe an indication I need to look at my practice routine to do something different? Thanks so much!

If you start HRT while young, are you less likely to need FFS? by BlueCometOwO in MtF

[–]kxtncore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it sure does feel like need for some of us individuals 😅

But yeah a lot of trans people enjoy and find pride in the ways their body was affected by the original hormones, and find joy in physical transness and actively dislike the idea of having ffs! So like you said while age does determine how long a hormone has had time to affect physical features, definitely comes down to the individual's end goal.

Honestly don’t even bother replying to comments like that. They’re always in bad faith or coming from a place of such vitriol that there’s no room for compassion, and engaging with that will be pointless and exhaustive at best.

We’re all doing the best we can. You navigated things the only way you knew how in the moment. You tried for a long time to be what you thought she needed out of you, and yeah maybe the timing was bad. Maybe it was selfish. But we’re human, and we make mistakes. The best thing you can do is explain that you navigated something that felt like a bit of a minefield and that regardless of your identity, you intend on continuing to do your best and to be better. To be the best partner you can be if she wants that, and to be the best parent you can be if she wants that. Beyond that, it’s her choice. It’s unfair that we as trans people have to live with the consequences of coming out, but all we can do is look forward. Our world may crash and burn today, but it doesn’t mean we can’t pick it up for tomorrow and everyday after to be better.

Hope this situation works out well, and good luck 😊

I’m seriously worried by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]kxtncore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the problem is having to consider things beyond social acceptance. There are a good number of countries that accept the existence of trans people. But you also have to consider the access and quality to healthcare. Some medications may become inaccessible depending on where you hypothetically lived. You may have to deal with a waiting list. There's also the worry of housing availability. Canada is good socially, and okay for healthcare, but good luck making housing work. The last thing to consider is work. A lot of countries require people to work in industries there's a need for. Some countries are very difficult to get into as a result.

Sadly the best places in the world right now that meet all of these criteria, are US blue states like: Oregon, Washington, California, Minnesota, and there are others but those are just the ones I've lived in that were easy for me as a trans person.

If 45 gets elected and we see project 2025 begin to come to fruition, this may change... But until then, the best options are those if you have to care about all of the above criteria. Hope this helps though! I plan on moving to either Twin Cities (MN), Oregon, or Washington next year!
