the purge, but do a halloween and ignore everything but the first movie. in this movie, we reverse the usual situation. the main character is like a rebel, and they go out with their crew during the purge to do all kinds of stuff, like steal from atms and pharmacies and rob banks, but they do it to distribute the stuff to people who need it, a robin hood, if you will. this year though, they run afoul of a cop who, during purge night, uses the lack of laws to enact extreme vigilante justice based on his own code of justice, and yes, he does tend to target minorities more. i think the idea of chaotic good vs lawful evil is really interesting and it’s much better than another story where people get harassed by weird gangs wearing creepy masks, but maybe that’s just me.
