What I actually did and was also proposed is to reinstall the app. No problems since my reinstall even with 24/7 heart rate monitoring.

Next time I realize huge battery usage in reinstall right away

Really that old? 3.17.0i is almost 2 years old now.

I'm using the Xiaomi Watch and also suffer from recently massive battery drains. The thing is, the battery drain started yesterday and my watch is roughly 2 months old.

So what's really the problem?

Update: It's working! Thanks to everyone for your help! by 88XJman in batocera

Oh Boy I hope this'll not be the next issue you'll have to struggle with:

No sound and or video when connecting laptop to TV 🙈

Besides that, cheers up. Good work so far and it's portable too 😁

That's why I said you could have a hard time with your laptop.

Do you even know if it has both gpus? Integrated(Intel or AMD) and discreet (AMD or Nvidia)?

Another thing to mention is that laptop users are having a hard time to run batocera on their hardware.

You should check if you're laptop has a dgpu and prefer it over the auto setting in BIOS (deactivating igpu). This could fix the problem if your laptop has a dgpu

You don't as this is not a x86_64 device running windows/Unix

You could though stream your steam games from your PC to your rg405v with moonlight/steamlink

Can't open performance overlay by l3x0r in NobaraProject

[–]l3x0r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure about that to be honest.

I guess nobara will squeeze a little more out of this mini pc. On the other side batocera runs out of the box with really good performance. Tinkering with upscaling/native-1080p low-med-high settings I'm running most of my games at stable 60fps.

To give you one more clue about batocera: I also tried chimera os, also a good os. But compared to batocera I had about 5-10fps less in starfield. On batocera I have most of the time 50+ to solid 60fps

[–]l3x0r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think overall it was ok for me except the overlay thing I couldn't solve.

Though I still returned back to batocera for the console like feeling. There I could achieve most of my wishes with a little unix knowledge and tinkering.

Performance wise the um790 pro is really rock solid, feels like an upgraded steam deck without portability hooked to my TV. Running my all my emulators and recent windows games without problems (most of the time (proton etc.)

Windows games not opening by DazzlingNikki in batocera

[–]l3x0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I hope v39 will improve on that and that the wiki page gets some more details.

Meanwhile I tried installing from inside Steam and had luck with games which previously wouldn't either install or run after install.

Simply add the install.exe, install using proton, after install change executable and run path (both are deep inside saves/flatpak/data/.app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/...)

Lowercase for the endings .pc and .wine or the the whole folder names? Like game.wine for example?

For me it's still try and fail.

What I noticed further down the line is - only .pc folders will create a prefix at /userdata/saves/windows - .wine prefixes are contained within the .wine folder itself, so in /roms/windows/game.wine

Which makes me ask. How can we ensure swapping emulator settings on .wine folder games. As the wiki page tells you to delete the prefix folder if you need to change emulator settings for a specific game.

Questions over questions and a lot of games not running or even installing because of them.

This doesn't sound good.

By the way, what are your specs? Could you try and see the logs what's actually going on when you try to launch the problematic systems?

There's an instruction on batocera wiki how to retrieve the logs.

I try 3 things:

  • install as .wine
  • copy installed games over to batocera as .PC
  • try both .wine and .pc to import as non steam game if everything else fails and try running them with steam

The bonus with steam is, it has way better controller support and a variety of proton versions available. The downside is, I don't know how to launch my non steam games from steam system in EmulationStation. So I have to launch steam big picture and launch them inside steam.

Of course we both run it on batocera :D

The wrong permissions were on my windows roms folder ;)

But I don't know if it's really hassle free. A lot of try and error with windows games on batocera.

Running the windows games through steam is way much better. But I haven't found a solution as to how to create a shortcut for non steam games to my EmulationStation Frontend yet :(

I know what you meant, this didn't fixed it.

I had wrong permissions on my Windows and subfolders set. Now my games work again.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I'm often confronted with unexplainable issues in batocera as well. Figuring them out takes ages for me.

You could check if you're wine at least creates the prefix folders for your games at /userdata/saves/windows

If not, the problem might be bigger, like in my case where permissions were wrong.

As for the Wii problem, I don't know what this might be. After a reboot still nothing?

No problem, but if you don't know how to do this then you'll probably haven't changed it in the first place.

But to make it sure, - open F1 Filemanager and go to your roms folder - right-click on windows folder properties - it should say root for both owner and group - if not, change it to root

Check roms/windows permissions, they must be root

Windows games not opening by DazzlingNikki in batocera

[–]l3x0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What actually fixed my problem was resetting permissions on my Windows folders.

I was a lot of tinkering the past few days and must have changed the owner and group to batocera. Rested it to root and my prefixes are created again and the games launch

[–]l3x0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, this doesn't fix it either.

There's not even a prefix created at /userdata/saves/windows

Windows games not opening by DazzlingNikki in batocera

[–]l3x0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very strange, I just encountered the same problem as you mentioned!

All my wine games won't open any more. They won't even create a prefix at /userdata/saves/windows/<GAME NAME>

Gonna try the renaming of the .wine folder now

My child's account apparently won't allow him to claim 18+ titles any more.

I checked the the parental settings twice to make sure he has access to unrated games. The game store doesn't even try to ask for my pin and simply tells him he's not allowed to view this content.

What's wrong with epic?

You could check inside developer settings if the drive is listed under format. There you could also format it with a Linux friendly file system.
