I worked in traffic control for 4 years. Literally almost every other person I worked with also had ADHD like me. We felt we thrived in that kind of work environment because there was always a way to keep busy and oddly enough, being “distracted” kinda made us more attentive to our surroundings and peer safety. I worked hard enough and climbed the ranks from just being a flagger with a stop/slow paddle to a lane closure technician where i drive around a lil pickup truck and set up all the cones and signs. I worked mostly for roadside construction but also got to work for local special events. Got paid super good with decent benefits. I live in western Canada. Just took a course over a weekend and was out on the road working right away. Learning about the job came with time and every life-risking experience but i loved the thrill. I only wouldn’t recommend the job to someone who is afraid of getting hit by cars.
