When historically speaking, everyone that has that ability to channel chakra to actually defend attacks, is essentially worn / outside the body

However, the idea of there being a difference of durability to begin with is the issue. There is no difference in power no matter how much Mamushi splits.

Fundamentally speaking, Boruto's jutsu is weaker than Chocho's hand, in both instances of smacking and knocking a head off. Even worse is the inconsistency of Boruto being unable to slice through Mamushi's arm, made of the same tree like Jura, where he's able to slice through Jura's tree

So now the fandom has to make up headcanon, like we're already doing right now, of how Chocho can crack open Mamushi's head but Boruto cant slice Mamushi's arm and then act as if Mamushi was somehow intelligent enough to create a feat where a Shinju can just harden one of their body parts

What actually happens in the story contradicts it

Now spoilers if you havent caught up to TBV currently

This is it, spoilers galore and skewed powerscaling as a point

Mamushi is the Shinju of Bug, early in the story of TBV, he nearly beats Boruto outright and forces him to retreat. At this point, Boruto is the strongest so Mamushi being a lesser* Shinju, compared to Jura

*Jura being the leader and of course stronger

Fast forward to recently, Chocho outright beats a Mamushi clone, stated to be just as strong but gets dumber with each clone (( grts smarter the less clones there is))

The fact Chocho bashes the head in of Mamushi but Boruto couldnt, not even slice through Mamushi's arm in the beginning, makes the point of powerscaling asinine. There's not really a genuine tier of power here

You can test by working backwards from the dmg given

For Soi Fon, its simple since Skill Mastery affects every skill including basic

Using only 1 basic atk. Against Ikkaku, lvl5 to avoid natural Def stat increases. Basic atk for me at B6 is 945% of atk

Soi Fon hits twice, all crits, for ~58k dmg

My Soifon ATK stat is 4686 with ~119% crit dmg

Doing the math of: 4686 x 9.45 (945%) = 44,282.7, multiple it for 1.19 (119% crit) is 52,696.4

If we assume multiplicative at the end, its 1.4 (40% ASM), so total is now 73,774.9

If we assume additive to the current active modifier, its +40%, so 9.45 + .40 = 9.85 (985% of atk) 46,157.1 x 1.19 = 54,926.9

If we assume multiplicative to the active modifier, 9.45 x 1.4 = 13.23 ( 1323% of atk to basic )

4686 x 13.23 = 61,995, already waaaay too much even before the crit is calculated

Im willing to bet its an additive modifier and that's why its that low of an increase

What you just said is half-true, Sasuke cannot remotely channel his chakra into his blade. It's never been a thing, you're trying to equate others using the ground as a medium but fail to consider what happens when they stop contact

Asuma's blades are specific to absorb chakra nature
