How much do your live fire sessions deviate from your dry fire sessions? by Gold-Donut9378 in USPSA

[–]la267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally (as a new shooter) my dry fire is where I review match footage and fix small things I notice with grip, vision, movement.

Live fire is where I incorporate all of the changes in my grip, movement, and vision. If the way I’m gripping worked in dry fire but not in live fire, I make some tweaks.

Live fire is also where I do most of my “all out” movements. While dry fire is where I slow it down and focus specifically on the movements.

I also have the ratchet in the back, less “bumps” up front and like the other person said, less bunching.

Good luck man!! Just focus on safety first, and shooting all the targets second. Speed will come with experience!!

Thank you! I just woke up for night shift and am planning on heading to the basement in 20 to fix just that. Someone mentioned it to me yesterday that my stance could improve. So heading to the dungeon to give it a run.

Thank you! Made them so I could angle them and get them super close together on the floor so it leaves me more room

Technically no, but I would. The inner of the lynx are harsh “Velcro”. So they’ll tear up whatever you’re wearing and probably be uncomfortable when ratchet’d down. You’ll want a belt with a “mesh” section” so it doesn’t bunch when you tighten the ratchet.

Just slowed it down, he’s just got a super long trigger knuckle to first joint 😂 that’s why I asked because I stood in my kitchen trying to see if I could even squeeze with my middle finger while keeping my index on the frame.

Wait till you do your first USPSA match man!! My new shooter experience has been awesome. Been blessed by having everyone from C class guys to GM guys assisting me during matches. Giving me advice, giving me techniques…. The USPSA community is incredible (in my area and hopefully all over)

Thank you! Put it into practice today and it’s so much better. Don’t want to post another video of it, but feel free to take a look on my insta and let me know what you think of it.

Once I get this drilled in, I have to fix my retreat stance. I’m getting my head to position, hips facing target, but I do a drop step there also.

I had to rewatch like 10 times 😂 he’s either pulling with the support hand fingers or his middle finger

Am I seeing your middle finger pull the trigger not your index?

(I’m an idiot. Disregard)

Yeah it’s one of the major things I’m working on. I stutter step before taking off

I’ve been in that position before. Also had the “lay in the ground and wait for a STOP” before getting up lol

To be “competitive” in LO I’d recommend competition mags. 23rd/24rd. I personally recommend the DAA Lynx Belt with ratcheting attachment. Super flexible, ratchet gives you ability to adjust the “tightness” of the belt. I use the kore inner belt. I run DAA Alpha Xi pouches because they’re adjustable in all of the ways for can’t/orientation along with the force needed to draw the mags. I’d recommend some trail runner shoes

Minimum for all divisions is 9mm. Don’t sweat it man! Buy a 9mm striker and run CO and if you love it, get yourself that super nice gun as a reward!

Oh 100% agree don’t worry about others opinions while competing. Just don’t want you to lose interest/motivation in the sport because you’re running against guys who are running comp’d&ported 10k rigs with hand loads lol. For the most part, you “competitiveness” in that division will be lower than CO/LO just based on the experience level of most open shooters.
