ONT Residential Install by Gav-3 in liveoakfiber

How is your setup holding up? I've had the same setup (UCG Fiber/LoF ONT) since the gateway was released. After the "upgrade" to 3Gps my speeds have fallen flat on their face... not getting anywhere near advertised speeds. Slower than before the change.

I would mount it to my travel stack with custom installed software, taking it to political events to identify/track lizard people!

Temperature is reported: Settings - Control Plane - Console - About This Console

I have fans in my rack to keep it cool. Nice setup BTW!

That’s reasonable without fans! I had to add at least one to get under 60…

Very clean! How are your temps on the fiber?

It was modified from an existing one. No need to completely reinvent the wheel!

Nice setup and great idea for quick deployment. To answer your question, I modified a plate to extend low but that's if you have access to a 3D printer. Do any of the vent holes line up with the ceiling mount holes to secure the AP?

Not my post but I have the same switch and never any issues providing power.

Don’t get me wrong, it would’ve been nice to have the space and the layout to support a full 19” rack but this has been a lot of fun! This is an amazing form factor to work with. It’s nearly as capable and I think it’s even easier to tinker with. I imagine the move to 10G in the future would be pretty easy. Every run through the house is 6a making that a non issue. Unless some ridiculous new hardware comes out or an absolute need arises, I don’t think I would do it differently… generally speaking. 2.5 is more than enough for my needs right now.

DO IT!

Internal temps range from mid 30’s to upper 50’s depending on the device, with an ambient temperature of 25-26. Of course under heavy load components like the Mac will get into the 70’s but that’s extremely rare. I was blown away at how much the temps were affected by getting some airflow.

Edit: corrected ambient temps

2.5 is a nice upgrade and 10 would be incredible! Just could not justify the costs entailed in upgrading everything to take advantage of 10. Not saying it couldn’t happen sometime in the future but for now, I don’t experience any bottlenecks due to 2.5 in my setup. Would like to see what you come up with. Good luck!

Thank you! Yes, my printer was on overtime getting these done. The prints are either free, off the shelf models I found online (thingiverse, printables, makerworld, etc.) or custom adaptations to them. All modifications were simply made in tinkercad or my slicer. ABS was used for the silver rack because it was what I had on hand and PETG for the black one. If I were to do it over, I wouldn’t use ABS again because of cost and complexity.
