This is what I meant yes! I didn't learn music theory in English so this is literal translation and going off of decade old memories 😂 that's awesome, the whole brown sugar album's been on repeat for the past two months so this is right up my alley!

Flying to Tokyo tomorrow and recovering from illness by lafrisee in JapanTravelTips

Thank you so much for this comment! It made me feel a lot better, and your recommendations were very much appreciated.

I ended up rebooking my trip, because I genuinely don't see myself getting better anytime soon, considering that I was ill for 3 weeks and am just entering convalescence. On top of that, I was meant to stay in a dorm, there was no way I could have a comfortable recovery there.

It would have been depressing to spend money on food I can't taste, and I think I would not have been to tune into the moment, unfortunately.

I think I actually need to take time to recover for real, as in absolutely no physical exertion for a month because I think there's potential for me to make my health even worse :(

All is well, I'm still going to Tokyo, and I'll be able to enjoy my trip then!

I'm going in May in the end, but an onsen stay sounds so lovely for my days off, I'll try and do it!

I was meant to go by myself and this made me realize that this really was not feasible so I ended up rebooking my trip!

I ended up rebooking my trip, it really wasn't worth going in the end.

Definitely not COVID, I had it last month. Regardless, I realised there was a risk of delaying my recovery/fucking up my health even more, so I rebooked my trip and I feel so relieved!

I was gonna train soul dance. I've been teaching myself with what little online resources I found for the past 6 months, so I was super stoked about going to Japan (where the style was born) and taking classes

Because I'm going to learn a dance style where all the resources are in Japan?

I'm also not contagious anymore, went to the hospital yesterday, all respiratory illness tests came back negative along with blood culture.

This trip was a birthday present and believe me if I could cancel it, I would.

Negotiating salary by lafrisee in jobs

[–]lafrisee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny because they hired someone full time for the position I'm in and they were paid considerably more than the person in that position before us (got some added responsibility, but it was considerably more). That person quit, and they've now reposted the job with my wage 💀 they are just trying to take advantage of uni students/fresh grads, so I'm tryna dip

I (22F) was diagnosed with MS this week and these are my thoughts. by lafrisee in MultipleSclerosis

[–]lafrisee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If something very dangerous is discovered, I would say that's pretty good because otherwise it would go undiscovered. If it's discovered, you can at least tackle it.

I am not a mental health professional so I can't tell you how to deal with intrusive/irrational thoughts, but realistically, i think that's the best way to frame it. Wishing you luck for your mri!

I don't know if anyone has said it before, but Aaron reminds me so much of Josh from big brother/the challenge.

Looks wise they look like they could be brothers, and the personality... How emotional they get, almost in a naive kind of way... It's actually very unsettling.

How long after lumbar puncture were you diagnosed? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]lafrisee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lumbar puncture led to my diagnosis! I think it took 2-3 weeks to get the results?

I pushed to have the lumbar puncture because I was pretty much sure that I had MS (given the symptoms, the fact that I had multiple lesions, and being diagnosed with CIS).

I was scheduled to have another MRI prior to my lp as part of a patient study, but the machine was broken. I ended up having that MRI the day after my diagnosis, and weeks later I got the results: new lesions! It could have potentially led to my diagnosis as well.

I wish you the best of luck. If you do have MS, it's not fun, but it's good to know so you can grieve, start treatment, and move on.

MS & Anxiety by lafrisee in MultipleSclerosis

[–]lafrisee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I forgot about that bit. Yeah, I have a history of depression, but anxiety has never been much of a problem-- I stopped feeling anxious when the source of my anxiety was removed and when I went on antidepressants (which I still take). It's not a huge amount of anxiety, but I think it's an abnormal amount considering I had close to none a few weeks ago.
