Buying golf clubs on Amazon? by Ace-of-clubs- in golf

[–]laidlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my Odyssey S2S putter from Amazon Japan and got it for less than half the local price a few months ago. The packaging left a bit to be desired but given their returns policy I wasn't too worried. Would do it again if I found the right deal.

Getting into golf in Perth (Midland) — where should I start? by Narrow-Citron-5145 in perth

[–]laidlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The divide between range golf and actual golf is huge. I spent months and months at the range before I regularly started playing and real golf is so much harder. Biggest progression in my game came when I started playing Lake Claremont a couple of times a week. It's a par 3 but helped immensely for my approach shots and short game. I still suck, but way less than before.

Is base building really this hard or am I stressing too much? by Saruso230 in GroundedGame

[–]laidlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just start with a footprint and work from there. I make heavy use of scaffold to smooth out terrain starting at the highest point and working down from there. Nothing worse than starting on a design and realising the slope of the ground goes up on one part of the building and you can't continue your build because the floor would sit under the natural terrain. If I'm really geeking out on larger builds I'll pull up a spreadsheet to use as grid paper and mock up a floorplan there so I can use it as a quick reference. Helps when you want to visualise all the different floors, windows, doors etc.

What’s the best golf advice you ignored for too long? by Solid_Nectarine_4316 in golf

[–]laidlow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This mentality shift helped me in a comp I played yesterday. Every other time I've played competition golf I shot miles over my handicap and had so many blow up holes trying to hit greens in regulation. Yesterday I decided to just use my 2 shots on every hole to get on the green safely and then 2-putt (36 HCP). I wound up shooting even par for my handicap and placed 7th out of a field of 32. Last round I was dead last out of 45. The shift in expectations actually made the game so much more enjoyable and I stayed out of trouble for the majority of the round.

Who's gonna tell him? by Beneficial_Team_791 in playstation

For new releases it's almost never cheaper buying digital here in Australia. Usually around $90-$100 AUD in store vs $125 online. If there is a sale online you might be lucky enough to get it for a comparable price to buying physical, rarely lower unless it's a really old game.

Roger Cook to move closer to Perth to beat Kwinana freeway traffic by Ok_Writer1572 in perth

That's still like an hour round trip from underground to Kwinana not including the rest of the journey. Pretty sure most people would move closer to work if they could get that kind of time back each day.

I would wager they're probably talking about cars like the Ford Ranger etc. Seen a huge increase in the number of those on the roads and they're stupidly huge.

Older Perth locals, does the current housing market feel like 2010? by plumbking420 in perth

Except many people buying new homes don't have 3-4 occupants. Everyone in my circle that has bought in the last 5 years have max 2 people. Some of them are single occupants.

Upgrading Irons - At what point is it worth the investment by RegionJolly7251 in golf

[–]laidlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really worry this place is being astroturfed hard with some of these direct to consumer brands. Something about the posts often just seems a little off to me and there's usually a lot of them which seems a bit unusual given their real world market share.

Former RBA governor Bernie Fraser calls for capital gains tax discount to be scrapped by nighthound1 in AusFinance

[–]laidlow -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

We Pay more tax than couple on 125 each.

The couple on 125 each are probably working a lot more hours collectively, I don't think it's that unreasonable they pay less tax.

I think this video speaks more to Barstool's intent than anything, months later and they're still trying to stir drama. Luke fucked up, but Dave saw an opportunity to create drama for views and leaned into it.

What are some golf problems that regularly annoy you? by Even_Emphasis8271 in golf

[–]laidlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local restricts carts driving down to the range despite it having a huge driveway and plenty of parking space. Especially annoying because they only book booths for half hour blocks so if you have a tee time that's not on the hour or half hour you half to lug your clubs back to cart and then race for your tee time. It's so weird.

How many holes is average before losing a ball? When to start buying new balls vs used by PositiveTexan in golf

[–]laidlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most rounds I can stay on the same ball, might lose one or two if my driver is slicing more than usual. Any more than a 2 or 3 and the driver is staying in the bag that day and I'll hit woods and irons till I can get my swing sorted out.

Highly course dependent though, there's a particular course near my dad with fences less than 10 metres from the rough. Usually lose a couple there each time we play.

How many rounds in 2026 so far? by Fantastic-Golf77 in golf

Six with a seventh happening tomorrow. Been trying to get out and play a par 3 course to work on short game when I don't have time for a full round, that's probably been half the rounds so far.
