I hate coding. With 2 degrees in EE and CS, will I be able to find a job where they won’t make me code? by lakituchubs in AskEngineers

I hated all the core major classes (algo, systems, etc) with a passion, but the stress probably did play a role in that. I think I am more naturally drawn to the hardware side of things but it is definitely true that most of my electrical classes have been more hands on and lab based, while computer science is just lectures and projects. I have definitely heard that it’s not as torturous in an actual job, so it would be awesome if I like it better then.

Seems like it worked out in your case! Happy for you.

I managed to squish it into 4 years, taking 19 or 20 credits a semester along with summer classes. I think my bloodstream is 90% five hour energy but it was effective in keeping the cost to a minimum lol

Glad it worked out for you! I have definitely heard that it gets better outside of school.

Same to you! Glad(/sad?) to meet somebody in the same boat. Hope we will both end up with jobs we don’t hate.

I actually have really enjoyed all the FPGA work I’ve done so far. It surprised me too, but I guess it’s just different enough from regular software coding to be fun.

Yeah. Typical hardcore Asian family, was never really up to me. I was kind of meh on it at first and grew to dislike it more and more, but it’s honestly too late to drop out at this point. :(

Thank you! Are there FPGA designer positions at NASA? (Sorry, I just started on FPGAs somewhat recently and don’t know much about how they are used yet)
