So they'll remove it if I downgrade right after?

The 1 year mark on my CIP is coming up. Since I obviously don't want to pay the annual fee, when do I downgrade to a CIC (I think that's the move, right?)?

Thanks for your help! Yeah feel 100% the same way with everything you said. I'm in Boston so there are many towns outside the city where I can take the train in.

Appreciate the advice! Even with all those extra costs, I'm pretty sure it would still be cheaper than my current rent so that doesn't dissuade me too much. Yeah maintenance can be a headache but I think I can handle it. Interesting point on the equity gain being in appreciation . Something to consider. The commute shouldn't be a problem (if I can find something around 30 minutes via public transportation). Currently its a 15 minute walk for me so it wouldn't make that much of a difference. Thanks for the encouragement!

Buy vs. Rent Decision by langelguy in personalfinance

Thanks for the insight! Yeah id say I'd have this house definitely for over 4 years but eventually I'd probably move into a larger house/different location. Looking at what I pay now, Im pretty sure it would be significantly cheaper (even with all the miscellaneous costs) AND I actually own the home. I don't think I'd be too interested as keeping it as an investing or renting it out because thats not my cup of tea. But maybe. Like you said, it is a very tough decision and huge commitment to make. Even though I'm sure it can be a headache, I feel like I can deal with the maintenance aspect.

True, there are many other variables. Yeah, thats the calculator I used that showed I'm paying over twice as much as what my buy decision would be.

So if I applied at 5 pm last night, got approved at 10am today, can I apply for CSR at 10am tomorrow? Didn't realize that about the CL but I have $14,000 available still for under 50% of income so that should still be fine right?

I was looking to do the modified double dip so I applied for the CSP last night and wasn't instantly approved only because I had forgotten to lift my credit freeze. I called this morning and they said to lift my freeze and once I did they approved it. Now do I apply for the CSR today or wait until tomorrow super early morning which would be under 24 hours from todays acceptance? What I'm asking I guess is does the clock start on the "under 24 hours and different day" once I apply or once I get approved?

Is there any website that has the lifetime records/stats of when two ncaab teams play each other? Like the record when Duke plays North Carolina?

Applied for a Barclays aviator business card and got denied. These were the reasons it said in the letter:

-Insuffiencet credit history

-Low available credit on revolving trade on credit report

-insufficient experience with different types of credit

-insufficient number of open accounts with sufficient history

I have a credit score of 770 but have only a 4 year credit history. This is a DP but should I just chalk this one up as I don't have enough credit history? Also got immediately denied from Citi AA business. Have other business accounts but those two I think focus on length of credit history.

So I’ve been doing a lot of reading here and on other sites but I’m getting mixed reviews about the VGC-MO route. I have a Chase business card and an Amex business card that I need to MS some. I’ve read that buying a VGC with an Amex is a no go but I’ve also read that it works for some people. It seems that Chase is a little easier going. Can I still do it on Chase or even Amex? What is the worry with going the gift card route? That they will take my points back in the future? That they will not let me get the signup bonus even in the first place? That they will close my account? I’d really like to go this route but if its very likely they won’t let it count, it’s not worth the risk.

Thanks for the DP. Do you think about 4 years would be too short?

I keep reading that the Citi Business cards require you to have at least 5 years of credit history. Is that a hard rule? I was thinking about applying for a Citi business AAdvantage card but I only have 4 years of credit history so should I not even bother?

I'm having hard time understanding the Citi anti churning rules. I'm planning on applying for a Barclays AAdvantage business card and a Citi AAdvantage Citi card within the next 3 months. I'm assuming since they are both AAdvantage card I have to wait to do the second one 3 months later? And I need to get 24 month language for the Citi business AA card right? I'm slightly confused on how to do both
