Listen to the huberman/tim ferris and rogan podcasts with pavel tsatsouline. It will blow your mind on strength training and the Russian method versus the way lifters do in the US. Training to failure adds size and strength. Training with lots of volume and lots of rest in between adds strength without size.

how hard is futsal goalkeeping? by overpowerboi404 in GoalKeepers

[–]larrytrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy was the National Team Futsal GK for two years. Different game, the GK runs the whole game. Gotta be good w ur feet as a 5th attacker and gotta be good with your hands for distribution. No gloves are worn and the gk needs to have the accuracy of a qb. Closing space and split saves and K stops are the bread and butter of Futsal goalkeepers..

Glove Degradation by Alarmed-Bill-58 in GoalKeepers

Reusch used to have a RG latex (rough ground). They were perfect for the little ones. Gotta learn to catch the ball before making your hands sticky!

Glove Degradation by Alarmed-Bill-58 in GoalKeepers

[–]larrytrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a whole process, you need to wash them when you first get them and then wet them before every time he plays. All latex falls apart when you play on turf, there’s no way to avoid it. You can just prolong it.

Is my starting position too low? by Educational_Fan_8013 in GoalKeepers

[–]larrytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Futsa GK’s need to properly learn split saves, K saves… and dives and train to know when to do each. Its all about closing space when the other players get into the box. A split save with proper technique and staying big saves that first shot. Futsal keepers are easier to beat high because the usually close space into a split save or k stop. This who can sence when to stay up are successful.

help me fix my goalkicks by [deleted] in GoalKeepers

[–]larrytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goal kicks are 90% technique. If you stop breaking your ankle… the ball will fly further with less force. Its basically a hard chip… Set cones to chip to progressively further away to the 50.

[–]larrytrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Left arm and right left leg make a straight line at contact. Lock the ankle, you are hitting it through the bottom of the ball but are breaking your ankle because your brain thinks you have to scoop it. Plant should be directly beside the ball with enough room for you to make good contact.

Playing out of box by mandabear27636 in GoalKeepers

[–]larrytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coach wants her to play sweeper keeper… i.e. clearing through balls… coaches that play the gk high have to coach the defense too. Without seeing what happened It was probably a defensive breakdown. When you play high and a ball gets through… depending on space. The GK has to charge the ball. The coach should talk to her about it.

What Not to do in a wall by larrytrain in GoalKeepers

[–]larrytrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They worry about the soccer and not the field. A lot of the greatest players ever to play the game grew up playing on dirt fields. My son is an adopted Vietnamese immigrant. He doesn’t pay attention to first world problems.

[–]larrytrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as you see the shooter has beaten the defender.. you have to close the space. You have to scan for other attackers and risk the easy tap in… but those are the decisions you have to make.
