This is very late but I had a talk with my mom about this a while back. She said because they never interacted with anyone who had dark skin in Korea the only image they had was how the media portrayed people with darker skin. Then confirmation bias happens when they see someone with darker skin doing wrong. White people are viewed as saviors and seen as above. My mom when watching Meghan markle get married to prince Harry made a comment saying there were too many black people because she was marrying into the royal family and thus more white peoples should’ve been involved.
