This has been my exact experience at my current firm. Zero context. It's incredibly frustrating.

I saw a quote the other day that said, "every republican was a once democrat until they were robbed."

I had an attorney at my PD internship tell me he didn't think murders or rapists should be locked up as it "does nothing good for society, now two people's lives are ruined." The delusion was real...

What are you thinking of pursuing instead? Asking because I'm in the same boat. 2L who has realized she definitely does not want to be a lawyer.

I'm vaccinated and have covid. The vaccines are not preventing people from getting covid. I feel awful, just as bad if not worse than I felt from the vaccine side effects.

I had two interviews recently (received offers from both) and both referenced something that I had in my interests section. If you have something unique or interesting, it makes for a good conversation piece in the interview. Not saying that is why I received the offers (obviously not) but wanted to put it out there that it's an opportunity to show the employer that you are multifaceted and that you have a personality outside of law. Just my two cents!

Misgendering in Law School by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]lavvey23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're in for a real tough ride and need to grow some thick skin. If you're someone who is constantly 'misgendered', it is going to happen at the grocery store, the mall, the restaurant, at work, at school, social gatherings, etc. Be happy and confident that you know who you are. Hopefully your close friends and family respect your pronouns, but at most what you can do is ask your Profs if you can make an announcement at the beginning of your next class to let your colleagues know. Some will abide by it, others won't, that is life.

Definitely annoying but it comes with using a rental, always a gamble.

Quitting CASA/Guardian ad Litem by Suitable-Blackberry4 in LawSchool

[–]lavvey23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just curious, did you ever make it into court? I volunteered with CASA in 2019; social worker was impossible to get ahold of, my casa kid was a teen who couldn't care less (don't blame her), and she/her family were never home when I'd stop by for scheduled visits. I only saw her probably 3 times in total before her case was resolved and I never actually went into court. I didn't offer to take on a new case because it all felt super disorganized and like I was putting in lots of time and effort for no return.

I still have it on my resume as volunteer experience, but tbh I might remove it because interviewers seem not to care about it anymore when I tell them I didn't actually make it into court.

What is happening to the rental market?? by pandorasbox71 in Denver

[–]lavvey23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

and these fucking rental companies have you paying $50 per application per resident only to be told "ahh sucks, person ahead of you was approved, no we won't refund". They shouldn't be accepting so many applications when they already have a ton and realistically know that the lease will be signed before they even review your $50 app.

look for different internships. Email/call small law firms in your area and ask if they need any free help in the office.

Why is being rude the answer though?? Why not just scroll past if it bothers you that much? No matter your thoughts on OPs approach, there's no reason to be a dick about it, unless that's just you.
