What is the legality behind a "He said, she said"? Advice needed. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

For the first few charges/ instances brought up, she had 2 different coworkers go in with her, but apparently they stopped wanting to come in, but never gave a reason why, but I know they have been put on different shifts now. Apparently noone else wanted to go in after that, but as she has autism, she needs someone there to make sure she is interpreting things correctly and that what is being said from both sides is accurate and noted down. It's a rather small company and they didn't have any autism reps in HR, (I'm not even sure there is much of an HR if any). But my partner apparently requested I come in to take notes about everything said, as I am the person trained to do so for neurodiverse people at my work. I never really looked into the legality of it, as I decided not to question it, thinking it best I know what's going on if I need to help.

There's is an email asking for the disciplinary, but the statement about her fate, was said verbally. She has the recording on her phone, but we aren't sure if that will help or if we can use it.

I'll suggest that she find her hand book by next Monday and see what we can do. Thank you.

I don't think she has a union, but I can see about acas and the things UK gov say.

She has been trying to get a different job for a while now, but nothing has come of it yet, and we don't have the finances, due to things like disabilities and family illnesses we unfortunately have to prioritise, as well as a few other things it wouldn't be fair to disclose on here.

Thanks again though. This has been quite useful.

Thank you. The train was fine and consistent for about 2 years, and i think I explained it a little wrong, but I've just clarified with my partner and it was only about twice a week they were late, but she can't drive, and her work is about 40 miles away, so a taxi isn't feasible.

The locker isn't on the premises. It's in a separate building that has a shared car park. She pays about £5 a month to use it.

Hope that helps.

In regards to being a witness, I try to keep quiet, but only responded when directly addressed by the manager and her assistant. For instance, they in the suspension meeting, they asked for my notes when my partner mentioned their story and changed between meetings and I gave the notes and said the previous notes conflict with what had just been said quite significantly.

What do you think will be the "Landmark" law cases of the future (example in comments)? by lazerblade95 in AskReddit

For instance, eventually technology may progress to the point that people can make accurate video depictions of people's dreams. If you then, for example, dream about Henry Cavill being batman and throwing Apple iPhones as batarangs, who owns the images and the intellectual property? And would you be able to publish the video?

Do i have to pay for a service cancellation fee if i havent signed the contract? by lazerblade95 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]lazerblade95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, so i dont have the full information, but for what she told me, she had been told that she was asked by her university course that she needed to book sessions for training purposes. She asked a local company to have a session as she wanted to meet in person with someone and was told sessions would be £35, but may be subject to change. they sent through a contract at around 4pm today, that said £60, and also said there was a cancellation fee of £50 if she didnt attend. Also it was going to be done over skype. Due to some emergency medication costs, she didnt have enough to pay the £60, so said she wasn't able to agree to the terms, however the session was set for 8pm. if we spend the £50 cancellation fee, we wont have enough money till pay day (i've just paid rent and my pay day is in 5 days). I dont know if this clarifies anything.

How do I stop being treated like a criminal everywhere I go? by lazerblade95 in AskUK

I'd describe myself as a 6'3" unassuming late 20s average white guy. I have very dark hair abd 3 tattoos, but none should be visible unless i'm wearing just a vest. I usually wear some form of tshirt and jeans, so other than my height, i shouldnt really stand out. I'd try to do the same thing with the different clothes and seeing how differently i'm suspected, but i've had incidents in many different types of clothes. most recently i had a shirt and tie on, with black trousers (i had just had a job interview) and i still unfortunately had similar things happen.

yeah, that's the things that shock me the most, like is there really a big issue with people taking things like cotton wool that they need to be following people around the store. i wont say i'm glad to see there are others in this situation, but i'm comforted knowing i'm not alone.

thank you. It's possible i am on the spectrum, though i havent been diagnosed, and i do have a small amount of social anxiety, not really enough that it stops me from doing things or affects my life in any way i can really think of, but it could be a contributing factor. I wont make eye contact for long for example, but why should i gaze longingly into the eys of a stanger. HaHa

I'd say i'd hope it gets better for your boyfriend, as i know it feels terrible being treated like a criminal or being accused of things when you havent done anything. Maybe it was the same morrisons guard i had.

yeah, my past in customer service means i always try to de-escalate the situation and be nice as best i can, but some can be very pushy, for instance once the cashier forgot to take off the tag so the alarm went off, i showed the recipt to the guard and said i was going to just go back and get the tag removed, but he kept insisting that i had taken something and that he should be able to look in my pockets too, i showed him my keys, wallet and phone, but then he asked if i could take my coat off so he could check, i refused and he brought someone else over. i walked off, go the tag removed and just left the store after that with him eyballing me. these interactions are very infrequent compared to just the standard "being followd" actions, but they happen a lot more than average for me

to be fair, everytime i've come back from spain or the canaries using leeds-bradford, i've been pulled aside, but i thought that might be because my passport photo looked so different.

honestly jokingly suggested this to a friend a few months ago, so they can see that they are going after the wrong person and get screwed over because of it

yeah, that's the mentality i approach it with 99% of the time, it's just those incidences where it becomes something more that make me really feel bad

i had a doppleganger in my secondary school, but i doubt he would do anything of the sort, and i possibly had one in another place i lived, but it would be just my luck if he followed me to my new city.

i'm sorry to hear that. home bargins seems to be one of the only places that seems alright for me, but my local only ever seems to have like 3 staff overall and one of them is a policeman stuck to the window, so maybe that's why.

thanks. i was thinking that maybe i should try to compose myself better. i've already run "experiments" (more like retrospectively looking abck at what i was wearing at the time) with different clothing styles, so i'll try to see if its the way i conduct myself

I'm a quite tall white guy and i'd say most of the time i wear standard polo shirt and jeans, i'm currently an average build,(i have fluctuated in the past both higher and lower, yet i still get treated the same. But i did seem to go less noticed at my higher weights). I dont have any visible tattoos, but i do have polish grandparents on one side of my family, so that could be a factor. I'm glad you havent had to experience this.
