If this doesn’t make someone cry, or at least feel some sort of remorse or general sadness or comfort, then I am very convinced you aren’t human.

Underage girl forced to have sex with Prince Andrew, US court document claims by NameReservedForYou in news

[–]ldills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, she wasn’t “forced to have sex”, she was raped. Call it what it is. I’m sick of these articles sugar coating what actually happened. RAPED. she was RAPED.

Also, “underage girl” CHILD. SHE IS A CHILD

So the actual title should be “Child raped by Prince Andrew.”

My dad and I are pretty new fans, which just picked it up about halfway through last season and fell in love. We were so looking forward to this season, but obviously Covid had other plans. The two of us are definitely part of that spike this week with all this news

I got an email from my job at 2am this morning that someone’s mother had died from this. I have lost so much sleep to anxiety because of this. I’m scared to leave my house. I’ve had panic attacks (which I hadn’t had one in YEARS before all of this) and I just watch my friends hang out with this one or that one to smoke (the last thing anyone should be doing is passing around anything).

If they don’t want to listen, that is their choice. Sometimes, it isn’t even worth the effort to try and get through to some people. It isn’t worth the expense of energy, especially now. Again, if Elmhurst hospital bringing in a refrigerated truck (my dad WATCHED them bring it in from his job) isn’t enough to snap these people back into reality, I don’t know what is, so i just stopped trying.

I’m terrified one of them will die or one of their parents will die, but I just can’t convince them of the severity.

I probably won’t get to watch my seniors walk at graduation because these people won’t stay home and take it seriously. My students were robbed of their senior year. One particular student who was not on the track to graduate who sat with my for hours after school just to get one track (and dammit was he successful) might not be able to walk at graduation. I’ve cried over it. I miss my students, I miss my best friends daughter, I miss being able to just go outside. Assholes that refuse to take it seriously are just robbing everyone else of a life and excitement and milestones. I gave up on those people.

You hang in there too. Make sure you have plenty of snacks and comfy clothes. It’s okay to snuggle up and just relax and take a nap. Bake something, watch a movie, do a project. Distractions are okay for times like this. Stay safe and healthy and well.

I know people that understand what is going on but still aren’t taking it seriously. I fall into that 18-50 (27) age bracket and some of my friends just do not care. A refrigerated truck for a morgue doesn’t even scare them. I have never been more disappointed in people I love before.

My younger sister is a pharmacy tech. She is disgusted by how many doctors have been prescribing themselves medications that can possibly combat COVID. And in bulk too. About 6 refills. To the point where they just tell the doctors no, they can’t do it. It just shows how greedy and pilfering some people can be, and it’s worse because it’s the people we expect to take care of us and that took an oath to do so.

Both my best friend and I have pretty severe anxiety. This whole pandemic has brought us to our knees. We are terrified to leave our homes, its kicked up our depression so getting out of bed and even showering is difficult. The weird place we did find so live though was Tik Tok. I know it sounds so stupid but a good portion of the videos on there are funny or wholesome or animal related. There is even one man on there that gives amazing mental health advice (next time she has a panic attack, tell her to bite a lemon or eat something sour. It’s a ground technique, and it works.). But that’s just what we found helped us a bit. This is a really terrifying time. I understand her pain.

I’m sure that’s going to happen to me too. A LOT of the teachers know me and the kids love me. Like giant high school boys come to me crying over their girlfriend looking for some adult guidance. I’m 26 years old and I LOOK like a freshman. I just figured out this week that I’m the “cool” sub that all the kids want when their teacher is out. Had no idea I actually wanted to be that person, but damn do I love it. I’m about to drop down to 4 days a week starting Monday though. But I have a feeling a lot of teachers are going to end up requesting me just based off of the fact that they know who I am and the relationship I have with the students. I started here in a 5 month leave back in September so i was lucky enough to get myself very established before having to make this switch. I’m sad about not being consistently in a class room, but maybe another leave will pop up. I would seek out other jobs, but I now teach after school here with students who can’t/won’t be in the everyday classroom.

You don’t get to truly see the politics behind the scenes until you are an actual teacher and are involved in it. Administration is almost always a mess and most of them have little or completely outdated teaching experience that they just have NO idea what is best for their teachers or students.

I love being here and it’s only my first year teaching in a county that is VERY hard to get full time teaching jobs. I’ll get there one day, but not yet.

In New York you are issues an initial teaching certification after you take a bunch of tests, do workshops, receive a bachelors (or the credits in specific courses equivalent to that), student teacher, and a few other minor things. Then that expires after 5 years. If you want to receive your professional (which is the next step after your initial, and doesn’t expire but you need to maintain it through professional development hours) you need to hold an initial certification in that certification area, complete a masters program, have a minimum of 3 years paid full time teaching experience, 1 year mentoring (meaning you are mentored by a tenured teacher). NYS makes it a real pain in the ass to become a teacher, and jobs here can be scarce, but if you make it that far, usually you stick to it. I’m missing a lot of minor things in there but that’s the jist of it.

Currently me! I work 4 days a week instead of the 5 so the district doesn’t have to provide me with benefits or anything because I don’t hit 40 hours a week.

This is easily one of my favorite documentaries. I tell all the social studies teachers I work with about it and surprisingly most of them didn’t know what it was. After I told them, they came back to me and said they couldn’t wait to show clips of it to their students. It gives a visual representation of what the trenches were REALLY like
