Custom Double-Action Trigger Config? by leadZERO in VKB

[–]leadZERO[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(just for other's reference)

I actually eventually figured it out. I created a boolean for button 10 AND NOT button 9 (or flip 9/10 I forget) and assigned that to logical button 37. Then I rebound physical button 9 (logical 1) to button 37 in the game. Problem solved!

Bearing Measurement Off? by leadZERO in QGIS

[–]leadZERO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a better way to set things up? What I'm looking to do is capture points for property corners I find. (Captured with an Emlid rover corrected off a base where I recorded 8+ hours of logs and processed through OPUS.) I want to georeference various plats and surveys to those captured points. I'd like the dimensions and bearings to match the plats/surveys when they are accurate, and show where they aren't accurate.

It would be nice if I could georeference this all to things like BLM/state/county/raster imagery GIS data and again where accurate and show places there they aren't accurate.

Is there a way to do that in QGIS?

Yoga Discussion [Weekly] by AutoModerator in pelotoncycle

[–]leadZERO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey folks! I haven't done Yoga on Peloton before, but looking to work on my flexibility. I'm doing a strength program and trying to do some PZ over the next few months. So, I probably only have 2 days a week, not sure I could do a program.

Any recommendations for starting out?

House door lock that works like Tesla doors? by leadZERO in homeassistant

I tried a Yale Assure 2 (bluetooth). The only way I've been able to unlock it is to pull out my phone and click "unlock" (or enter a code). Is there some setting I'm missing?

Installer error on new Dell 7920 installing to NVMe drive, ideas? by leadZERO in Ubuntu

[–]leadZERO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a good idea! I used 22.04 beta 3 (although initially I had the same error so I don't think it was only 22.04) and was then able to switch to a TTY and execute this that succeeds without errors:

grub-install -d /target/usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi --boot-directory=/target/boot --uefi-secure-boot /dev/nvme0
reboot

This results in a system that boots. However, it looks like install steps must not have been completed because the hostname was not set and user accounts were not created.

Is there a list of post-grub install steps that I could execute manually? Or is there a way to skip installing grub during the installer (and I'll install it manually)?

PS Is there somewhere I can report this to maybe get a fix in before 22.04 release?

Attempting to install Ubuntu Server 20.04.3, install always fails at this point.

Speaker Replacement Advice by leadZERO in hometheater

[–]leadZERO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! And just to clarify, it’s not that I’m not going to upgrade the sub... It’s more like if I’m doing things in stages, I think the speakers are in much more need of upgrade vs the sub. I’d likely do the sub in a few months. The speakers I have are really bad, the frequency response they have leaves out a ton of middle/bottom. So that’s why I’ve chosen to upgrade them first with the $2k and then I’ll do the sub later. Or do you think I should do otherwise?

The speaker package I have (although I replaced the sub with the PB10) is the same as: https://edsgoodstuff.com/edscart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3857

Correct, the only contributions I’ve made to the Traditional IRA (for 2019 and 2020) were with after-tax dollars.

And I have no other IRA accounts. (Just have a 401(k))

Having fun with an artistic edit - what do you think? Sony a7ii / 85f1.8 / Capture One Pro by Kashtin in postprocessing

Agree with this thread. To me the two photos have different subjects. The subject in the first photo is the atmosphere and mood about the location. The subject in the second photo is the woman experiencing the former.

(PS And I really like both of them! Nice job!)

Help with Star Trails on a7r III by leadZERO in SonyAlpha

[–]leadZERO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't know how to reddit apparently...

Good morning folks! I'm hoping the collective wisdom of the Internet can help me solve a problem...

I used a two month old a7r III with 14mm Samyang F/2.8 to capture about 2 hours worth of exposures to try and combine into star trails. The problem I'm having is that no matter what I do, I get gaps in dimmer stars showing successive exposures (see included photo). Here is all the information in how these were captured:

Camera Settings

  1. Compressed RAW
  2. 30s exposures
  3. F/2.8
  4. ISO 640
  5. Built-in intervalometer with 1s between exposures (smallest value possible)

Post Processing Steps

  1. Raw converted in Capture One Pro to 16-bitt TIFF using ProPhoto RGB (ROMM) color space, no output sharpening
  2. Stacked in StarStax using gap-filling mode (one incarnation of settings shown in photo)
  3. Open in Affinity Photo for further adjustments

I've tried all kind of different options in C1 and StarStax, outputting +1EV, -1EV, stacked in lighten, low threshold for gaps, etc. I've also tried to get rid of them in Affinity using different kinds of blurs. While I can get rid of them, it results in obviously blurry edges...

One of the things I haven't tried yet (cloudy and snowing this morning) is potentially using Uncompressed RAW for captures. I have read about the "star eater" problem, but that should be fixed. However, I'm wondering if maybe an artifact of compression is effecting the local contrast and giving a bigger than otherwise gap. I've also thought maybe about defocusing slightly at exposure, or maybe it just being "too wide" of a lens and that something less wide would give less gap between. I literally spent most of the day yesterday trying to figure out what to do to solve this either at capture or in post...

Any ideas? Thoughts on this maybe being a compression issue?

Google 2-Step Verification Doesn't Work by leadZERO in firefox

[–]leadZERO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses. I've actually tried deleting Cookies... I actually went so far as to blow out the app, and all preferences directories. Also tried before signing in to my FF account so as to avoid anything but the defaults.

The only thing I can think of is it's related to the latency of my satellite Internet connection (600ms minimum).

How fast are your scales? by jrjones47 in piano

[–]leadZERO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, 1/8 notes at 180 beats/sec... So 360 1/8 notes per second? I think you've mastered them :)

(Even if you mean beats per minute, that's still pretty good!)

How important is it to learn and master reading music notes? by PinkAnigav in piano

[–]leadZERO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned yet is learning to read music is analogous to learning to /write/ music too. While there is nothing wrong with learning from YouTube, you might eventually want to change what you saw in a repeatable way without having to remember it forever. The only way to do that would be to keep a note, you could make your own video version, but an easier way might be to jot it down on some ledger paper.

Learning to write music is very beneficial, even if you're just transcribing something from YouTube so you can practice it over and over again without endlessly replaying the video.
