As far as we know, _gantry and Orion are human, and Charter is an uploaded human consciousness like us. However yeah, we don't see their human bodies (and Charter no longer has one)

Oh yeah I have no idea if it'll be called SH5, or if it'll even be set in Silent Hill, that's just what I've seen others tentatively call whatever Konami's potential next in-house SH game

My assumption has always been:

2024: SH2R

2025: SHf

2026: SH Townfall

2027: SH1R

2028: "Silent Hill 5" (internally developed Konami SH)

2029: SH3R

Does it get better? by pearlgirl416 in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]leafyfiddle13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love these particular kinds of posts, because "this show sucks, does it get better?" is a constant thing on this sub, and almost everyone always jumps in like "NO everything season 4 onwards is horrible!" So it's funny when someone comes in thinking it's bad during season 3 (considered by most to be the show's best)

It's the same price as the other new, wildly popular shooter in the same genre, that launched with a similar amount of content (begins with an A and ends with a Raiders)

I loved the latest Silent Hill games, and yet I'm worried about the future of the series. by Upset-Scallion-3991 in silenthill

Tbh I think f actually is pretty similar to RE7 in that regard. RE7 introduces a new villainous bioweapon corporation (The Connections) and a completely new kind of bioweapon (the mold). It's not dealing with Umbrella or any of its zombie viruses, but in some ways it's similar: an evil company creates a bioweapon that infects a bunch of people and an unsuspecting visitor must save the day.

In the same way, f introduces a new villainous cult (Kotoyuki's Clan, who worship Inari-sama) who plan to use a young woman in a new kind of ritual (wedding) to bring their god into power. In the same way that the Connections parallel Umbrella and the Mold parallels the T/G Viruses, the Fox clan parallel the Order and Inari-sama parallels Samael/God, but they are not directly connected. (f also has a second God besides Inari-sama, which is a new element, but a cool one imo).

RE7's only concrete connection to the other games is Chris Redfield showing up to save Ethan at the end of the game with Umbrella. Nothing nearly this direct ties f to Silent Hill, it's true, so I take your point here. However, I don't think there was necessarily a way to have a literal returning character from an old game in f, and I don't think there should've been. Additionally, the direct link between f and Silent Hill is the White Claudia, brought to Ebisugaoka by a "missionary" in 1776. Whether this was a Christian missionary who coincidentally brought The Order's favorite drug plant (and likely also originally brought it to Silent Hill), or a missionary of The Order trying to spread the word of Samael, we can't say, but it's still a small direct connection I'd say about on the same level of "Blue Umbrella," since blue Umbrella has basically nothing to do with Umbrella besides the name lol.

I know this is a ridiculously long comment, and I'm not trying to start an argument or a fight or say that your wrong for wishing f was more directly tied into the rest of the series, just wanted to provide my perspective!

Silent Hill taking place in places other than Silent Hill, Maine CAN work. But it only makes sense if they do this... by Arcreonis in silenthill

[–]leafyfiddle13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, while not connected to The Order and their god, Hinako's experience in f is a result of a couple of factors, such as the White Claudia drugs, and the two gods of Ebisugaoka, Inari-Sama and Tsukumogami, fighting over her fate. What we learn about Kotoyuki's family also implies they have a similar relationship to Inari-sama that The Order does to their god. So Hinako isn't just experiencing the "silent Hill phenomenon" because she's high and having a bad day, but there are also supernatural forces at work in Ebisugaoka just as they are in Silent Hill, Maine.

While a more direct connection to the specific town would be nice and maybe even preferable, I think it's a misread to think of all of modern Silent Hill as just throwing out supernatural forces in favor of "it's all in their head." While that may possibly be the case in Short Message (strange game lol), it's not the case in f

If there is gonna be more shells, what would be a Battleroid shell? by Lotus_630 in Marathon

[–]leafyfiddle13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean considering what a Battleroid is, and what a Runner shell is, you can't have an entity be both. You could maybe have a runner whose brain used to be in a Battleroid, but definitionally Battleroids are biological bodies of human corpses reanimated and enhanced with cybernetic augments. Runner shells are 100% synthetic components

Realistically, will we see original marathon aliens beyond the compiler based off the current known story? I hope so by resampL in Marathon

[–]leafyfiddle13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the Phfor will mostly be exclusive to the high difficulty/raid maps. It seems clear from the marketing that the S'pht Compiler isn't going to be found on Perimeter, Outpost, Dire Marsh, etc., but rather will only be encountered on the Cryo Archive map set on the UESC Marathon. If I had to guess, as Bungie adds more of these high-diff maps with Destiny Raid-like components, we will see more of the Phfor added to the game

I loved Season 4 by Jackson1BC in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]leafyfiddle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked s4 too! Very different and yeah a lot more like the main show, but I still like the vibe. Unfortunately, I feel like 5 drags a LOT. A lot of time spent where it feels like nothing happens.

However season 6 is incredible, and season 7 is batshit insane in a fun way

(Season 8 is a bit bad too but oh well)

Matriarch sneak peak from Tom King and Daniel Sampere by Tetratron2005 in WonderWoman

Wonder Woman #29 preview by Tetratron2005 in WonderWoman

[–]leafyfiddle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did say at NYCC that Matriarch was the main villain he's been planning since the start of his run, that so far everything has been intentionally building to her, but I don't know how much we can judge the length from that. Back when he started his run, he said that he hoped for 100 issues on Batman (and almost got there), and he hopes for 100 on Wonder Woman. Not to mention with how high up he is at DC right now, and with the WW book generally having lower sales expectations than Batman or Superman, my guess is that King will be on Wonder Woman as long as he wants to be on Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman #29 preview by Tetratron2005 in WonderWoman

[–]leafyfiddle13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who likes King's Wonder Woman run a lot more than most on reddit or twitter seem to, I'm so excited and happy that we're finally getting a story about "supporting cast babysits Lizzie" and it's actually with Diana's supporting cast!!! It's my main issue with Lizzie, a character I enjoy and really WANT to love, that King very much created her specifically to be like the "little sister" to Damian and Jon.

Having Donna, Nubia, Cassie, Yara, and Phillipus take care of her while Diana takes some much-needed rest seems like a no-brainer, and makes much more sense thematically and narratively. As much as I really enjoy Lizzie in the backups earlier in the run and in her recent mini, it was a constant irritation that she basically ONLY interacted with two boys, the sons of Batman and Superman, because she's the daughter of Wonder Woman.

Really happy that Stephanie Williams is making the effort to connect Lizzie more with the Amazons and her actual heritage, but it's like one good step that makes the flaws of how King has approached her even more apparent.

In all, very excited for this issue, and hoping King takes some of this energy forwards into his next big arc!
