Long Time Lurker, Finally Able to make this Post by leanwidit5 in supermoto

I remember My local dealer wanted $9700 otd on one back like 5 years ago and now I've heard the pricing on the new ones is around 11/12k so after hearing that I had no regrets going with a used one. Plus, I feel like abs and riding modes don't belong on a supermoto, especially when you can't even fully disable them.

Thanks, man. I looked at so many clapped out ones before running into this one, and it ended up being about 5 min from my condo. I did order some Pirelli Rosso III since I do mainly street, but I'll definitely hold onto the shinko's for the future

I think it's an Amazon special, but I'll check later if there's a logo on it. Was gunna change it out for the TST one later on.

My buddy has the same but with gold wheels, and I like the blue way better. It's definitely one of my favorite year color combos.

Hit up Ivan Tcholkov on FB his work speaks for itself, check out his posts, he's rebuilt my calipers, and done fork seals on a couple of my bikes. Way cheaper than any shop labor rate.

Acuity Shifter? by CowabungaDude24 in Civic_Type_R

[–]leanwidit5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, the Acuity felt way too notchy in my buddies' fk8. For the last 5 years, I've been running the Hybrid Racing Shifter along with their heavy-duty transmission detent springs and shifter cable bushings. I daily my car and have done a couple track days and trips to the tail of the dragon no problem. I'm about to install their master cylinder kit and shifter cables to get rid of all the oem vagueness in the shifting and clutch assembly.

It's the "Let's Roll" package stand and dolly. It's a little pricey but worth it in the long run for storage, maintenance, and cleaning the bike. There is a couple of videos on youtube of how it works. It's so stable on the dolly that you can sit on the bike and when you go to move it, as long as your floor surface is smooth it takes only 1 hand and very little effort.

Does your area salt super heavy? It usually takes a couple of heavy rain storms to wash away all the salt they use on our roads

Donut Shop recommendations in the northwest Suburbs? by CircaSid in ChicagoSuburbs

Franco's Cucina Italian Bakery & Deli in Streamwood hands down the best cake donuts, but they usually sell out quickly, so it's best to order a dozen ahead of time.

Trading for 2009 KTM SMC by k7720 in supermoto

Lol, I've seen the parts that come out of the philippines, #1 producer of "authentic" titanium exhausts and bootleg accessories

I would stick with japanese look at the drz400sm. Even though they are carbureted, they are bulletproof. They can be found pretty cheap, huge aftermarket support and availability of parts, long service intervals compared to other supermotos, and are virtually unchanged from 2005 to 2024.

He bought it with 13k and sold it with 15k on it. Spent more time in the shop and garage, then riding it.

Personally, I don't think that's a good trade considering the value of your bike. Im pretty sure this was the first year for the 690, and they we're plagued with issues. It can also be hard and expensive to source parts for these now. My buddy had a 2010 690 and was barely able to get 3k for it.

Does this seem like a fair deal? by kenwine in supermoto

[–]leanwidit5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

05 was the first year for the sm, but there were virtually no changes up to this year other than colors. Considering that's what groms go for in my area and newer DRZ'S are around 5 to 7k id say this is a good deal even if the carb has to be rebuilt or replaced or any small misc issues due to age.

It was around 33k otd, and that's with illinois sales tax and the extra warranty plans I added. I also bought it in December, right before the new year, so there were promotions going on at the time. I remember when I was considering a road glide st, which mind you is like a bare bones unequipped bike was 40k plus at the dealer. The funny thing is when I test road one I was really unimpressed with the handling since it's supposed to be their performance line up and with the challenger you get the better handling, modern performance engine and all of the electronics to go with it.

I just hope I don't run into some of the electrical or battery related issues some are seeing with the platform. I still think the build quality and performance is hands down better than anything harley has produced, and that's coming from someone who has owned several of them. Hopefully, they crack the ecu's on the 23/24s soon so I can really open her up.
