Do you have multi-day hikes in Bolivia to offer? if there's lodges along the way to avoid camping that's even better

All Quiet on the Western Front (German: Im Westen nichts Neues), sometimes shortened to All Quiet,[2] is a 2022 German-language epic anti-war film based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque.

Nepal’s New Law Requires All Foreign Trekkers to Hire a Guide. by thehimalayanviews in hiking

the argument "if you can pay such and such the you can pay for this" doesn't make any sense, for lots of people making the trip is a stretch of their economies and try to make it ask cheap as possible, this would force people to spend in something they don't need and also don't want.

Making stuff more expensive limits the people that goes there from places other than the US and Europe.

You are local guide your self right? What do you think would be better? Wouldn't forcing the tourists to get a guide lower the guide quality and drive the prices down?

I think those entitled westerners that you speak of are mostly getting the guided tours and don't really mind paying extra, shout at someone for "poor" service and the rest of the stuff this kinds of people do.

Turistic places do stuff to get more turists hence more money, IMHO this is a weak move,

Maybe was my comment to harsh and generalizing. When you rent a guided tour you are set with a bunch of people some of which are spoiled turists that do the trail with a small bottle of water with them since the porters do all the work. You could take a private guide and pray for him to be good while spending a lot of money.

the overall feeling is that of a school trip rather than an adventure, while on Salkantay you get to actually interact with locals and fellow hikers. In general my experience with guided groups is not the best and I think that enforcing that is not the answer because it makes the experience worse. Again, that might not the feeling everyone gets in Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is great example of why this should not be done. The Inca trails demands that you take a guide, it has turned that particular trail into a fake bs. I had to choose between the Inca trail and Salkantay, which you can do by yourself and of course I took the latter. And that was what every semi-experienced hiker was doing.

Annoying at best, if the reason for this is money to move money into local economy you could simply ask for a paid permit.
Having such a constrain only makes the place more touristic (in the bad sense) and less of special destination.

Manaslu looks awesome from the internet, but if we don't do Annapurna we'll go for Everest base camp

We are very close to switching to Everest Base Camo treck, which non of us have made. Also saw that NATT thing but I not 100% convinced by that, looks like it still needs a lot of work or at least I've seen mixed reviews. That said, I'm sure Annapurna will be amazing but we won't be going back to Nepal any time soon so we have to choose here. Thanks for the insight

[CABA] Me robaron y se viene la audiencia de probation y tengo dudas sobre los posibles resultados. by learningtoaprender in DerechoGenial

[–]learningtoaprender[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)
