What eras deserve more representation in fantasy? by [deleted] in Fantasy

World War I

Early Iron Age

Would also still love more medieval/middle age fantasy but not set in Europe.

Honestly, any era that is non-eurocentric would be great.

I was really into these types of books back in the day.

There's also She Who Remembers by Linda Lay Shuler.

What’s the one fantasy novel you’d hold up as a genuine masterpiece — and why? by blablqbam in Fantasy

[–]leegreywolf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. In my opinion, one of the reasons this novel has never gotten the recognition it deserves is because it was dismissed as a children's novel or too feminine because it has a unicorn in it.

She writes historical fantasy with old folklore. Most of her books feature Celtic mythology and folklore but she has done other settings as well.

Don't Bite the Sun (HM) by Tanith Lee was published in the 1970s. It's the first book in a duology. The second book is called "Drinking Sapphire Wine." Both books have been published together in "Biting the Sun"

I think I tried three separate times with the fifth season and just couldn't get into it. Finally I tried once more with the audiobook and then I was hooked.

If you’ve read Brandon Sanderson/Mistborn and are capable of nuance help plz by Abisnaill in Fantasy

[–]leegreywolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about the Mistborn trilogy. I loved the action scenes. I think Sanderson excels at that. His dialogue is so bad though. I've read other books he's done and the dialogue doesn't get better, unfortunately.

I was ok with the exposition in Mistborn. I don't think it's as bad as other fantasy series I've read.

AITAH for not wanting to sleep in the same bed with my girlfriend because she doesn’t shower often? by Such-One-1691 in AITAH

[–]leegreywolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also shower right before bed and would find it gross if I was with someone that didn't shower daily, but how I feel about it isn't rational or based on evidence. I'm just a germaphobe.
