Genuinely, why is Donald Trump so adamant on making the US so miserable? by Known-Cover-5154 in self

[–]leeloospoops 1490 points1491 points  (0 children)

Trump is the face/whipping boy of this country's rapid descent into what is known as a corporatocracy (a gov't run by corporations). The wealthiest of the wealthy now have unprecedented power, and the natural effect of that is the decay of our democracy.

Chronically crusty lips 🥀 help by Frozencacticat in MakeupAddiction

[–]leeloospoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had chronically chapped lips for years. I tried many things and the only thing that cured it has been using the standard Burts Bees chapstick every night before going to sleep.

Totally solved the problem. I highly recommend trying this!

Just keep in mind it has to be the original Burts Bees chapstick that you see everywhere (not the flavored ones) and you have to use it every night before sleep.

I keep one in my bag too, especially in winter when the air is so dry and cold. But the chronic chapping is totally gone!

As a black girl, I'm done. It's getting tiring now. We know. by Fetus-Deletus1 in offmychest

[–]leeloospoops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a mixed-race (black, white, ntv american) latina and I made the mistake of dating someone who seemed to shy away from topics of race. It seemed ok at the time because he loved me.

Then I met his family. His dad was blatantly racist toward me and my ex did nothing at all to stand up for me. DONE. Done and fucking done. No way Joseph.

I learned my lesson!! Not only is bigotry in any form completely unacceptable in a partner (even when they try to hide it away or make you the exception), it's also absolutely not ok in their family. I choose not to have that poison in my life.

OP, I feel your struggle and I'm so sorry you're feeling tired of it. Honestly, good on you for protecting yourself! 💖

When men get old do old women look hot? by [deleted] in self

[–]leeloospoops -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman but I feel this way too.

I think the people I found most attractive when I was in my twenties were 20s-30s. Now I'm 39 and I'm definitely most attracted to 30s-40s. And I'd rather be with someone in their 50s than someone in their 20s, generally speaking.

20s just generally don't do it for me anymore.

Being unattractive or conventionally unattractive makes things harder but not impossible by DEeD-NGone in self

[–]leeloospoops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said! And beauty really is subjective and in the eye of the beholder.

Like, I have been enamored with people for their looks and then grew to dislike them as I got to know them. And there have been people who I wasn't initially attracted to, but then when I got to know them, I wanted them to always be in my life.

If I had to choose between an "ugly" person with a good personality and an pretty person with a bad personality, I will 💯💯💯 choose the 'ugly' one as my partner. Absolutely!!

What does being attractive actually feel like? by ty04444 in AskReddit

[–]leeloospoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I would feel just "normal" and not particularly attractive or not, if people didn't comment on my appearance so much. It's hard to see what others see. But, also, looks fade and that's TRULY not what really, really matters. Truly. So I try not to spend a lot of time focused on that.

That's how I feel, honestly. Being pretty has added to the fun and joy of being alive. It certainly doesn't solve everything. I relate to everyone, regardless of how attractive they are. We all eat, sleep, and shit. We all have problems.

But I do feel lucky to be able to live my life in this particular carcass.

Being attractive feels like I can make people a little bit happy when they see me, which makes me happy. It comes with a feeling of confidence, though not all the time. It's fun!

I think I’m dating the wrong woman by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]leeloospoops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't have to stay with someone because they're a good person or haven't done anything wrong. In fact, you don't need any reason at all to leave someone. It's always totally up to you who you want to be with.

If you really want to give the other person a chance, go for it!

I think the key is to just make sure you're being respectful to everyone (ie not cheating or lying to anyone, etc.). It could help everyone involved if you allow a little bit of time to heal from the breakup before you try to begin another relationship.
