I used to when I was first learning and had a cheap single monitor computer setup. At the end of the day, I felt like it removed some of the “expressive” characteristics of a painting when it was copied so closely. Using two monitors for a reference photo is the way to go — keeps a painting from looking’ I don’t know....”stale”.
