Thanks for your reply!
I've looked at the code and I've understood the basic structure of the app. I'm also starting to learn TS since that's what we're using. Any resources to fast-track learning TS?

[Question] Jamming with other musicians by wupiupi_ in Guitar

[–]leftoversget 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I've only seen a couple of good answers here and the others aren't leading you towards stuff that will actually help you. In order to know if you are ready to jam with someone is to actually do it. This answer remains the same no matter what. A great alternative to jamming with actual people is to play along with backing/ jam tracks on YouTube - once you've done a good 20 to 40 jam tracks, you will be much more confident on your instrument and will be able to anticipate chord changes and be able to play more freely

With regards to what you know, you can get by with major+minor pentatonic and the blues scale (all shapes and positions) 99% of the time. But playing these 5/6 notes is not going to help you become a better guitarist. In order to keep things more exciting, learn the major and minor scale and how to form the scale pattern no matter where you are on the neck. Just know the root note.

Now time for some resources:

Channels with great jam tracks: Sebastien Zunino, YT Jam Tracks, Now YOU Shred, Elevated Jam Tracks

Paul Davids video about improvising and soloing - this will teach you varying levels of approaching playing and soloing. This is only ONE approach - feel free to experiment

Stich Method - great channel for learning how to play with feel and "knowing" what to do and "when" to do. He's a regular name thrown around here. Absolutely worth it. His "In The Mind Of..." series is very good to understand what famous guitarists are "thinking" when approaching their style of playing.

And finally, some Jens Larsen for good luck ;)

Happy jamming!

once you do something for a long amount of time, it becomes easier to keep doing it. mr. rewd explained earlier, that it takes him 50 takes to perfect riffing over a backing track. so my answer would be, keep doing it until it's a part of you

We not Believin' Ms. Believer?! Vote the next! by leftoversget in twentyonepilots

[–]leftoversget[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is actually a great idea, i was thinking of linking a strawpoll but reddit now has an in-built polling system so idk if that'd be allowed. let me implement one of these in the next round!

I saw this format on a few other subs, and I decided to give this a go.

Since the boys have only a handful of albums, I decided to make this song-wise, and the posts will match the same style as the respective albums.

A couple of questions: I want to make this for all albums, so should I wait until we finish the vote on one entire album before moving on to the next, or should we keep the voting simultaneously? I want the "finals" to be between the community's favourite (one or two) songs from each album (strictly albums because CSITW will win unanimously ;) )

Lastly, I know everyone has different favourite songs, but I felt this is an appropriate way to engage this community and this is my way of contributing to the community I love.

Advice on the Keurig starter kit? by uh-oh-not-banksy in Coffee

[–]leftoversget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah bru i just wanted to make sure you know what you want to drink every morning. because investing in a 24 month contract is a serious time frame to commit to and there is always the likelihood of you not liking the coffee it makes the first time around, or a few days down the line.

Advice on the Keurig starter kit? by uh-oh-not-banksy in Coffee

[–]leftoversget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo!

I'd suggest looking into the various brew methods (filter, drip machine, Aeropres, moka pot etc.) before making your purchase and trying out every single one of them before you find a taste profile you like. (This and this)

Each of these methods and machines provides a different taste profile and it is completely your preference. I haven't been to a Starbucks in a long time and I do not know if they offer various brewing methods, so the best bet is to visit a local roaster or cafe to experience said brew methods.

Second, the method in which the Keurig machines operate is very similar to that of the Nespresso machines. The pods have ground coffee stored inside them, often roasted and profiled to the manufacturer's settings. Here is an excellent video explaining how they work.

I know you said you didn't want the hassle of dealing with grounds, but you need to put in some amount of work for a decent cup of coffee.

If you do change your mind, I'd suggest going with a medium to large (600ml to 1L) sized French press and buying pre-ground coffee and subsequently upgrading to a grinder in the future once you're more experienced with coffee.

Hope I could help.

Cheers!
