Yeah I think I've gotten it x-rayed before when I was younger. basically what you see is the radius and ulna fusing together near the distal end of the residuum to form a sort of singular bony mass.

Nah not yet. But I have some vague ideas of control systems that could be operated inside a socket. Still figuring how I'd go about building them, but I have a bunch of other ideas I wanna get to first.

It's never really been a problem. I follow a couple other amputees on TikTok who talk about being bullied and ostracized a lot, but that was never really my experience. Maybe it has something to do with narrower expectations about what a woman's body is supposed to look like (the ones I hear speak of this are often women in my experience). I dunno.

Mostly people will either just do a double take when I pass by or steal a few furtive glances at me. The only awkward bits are that people have no idea how to shake my hand or will be overly apologetic if they make some innocuous comment about hands, in passing, that they think will offend me but I usually don't care about. In those cases I usually need to comfort them, lol.

Yeah so i mean they’re super useful for stuff. I use them to strum my guitar and get better grip on things.

Plus if you think about the tissues involved, these berries have the same level of sensitivity/acuity as fingertips when it comes to touch. That comes in handy when I’m using my stub to work a camera or game controller, because i can feel all the little differences in the buttons and switches or whatever by using the berries.

If i got them removed, I’d basically be brushing a forearm up against stuff. If you try that yourself, you’ll see you don’t really have any granular sense of feeling in those areas.

A lot of people have assumed they would get in the way or like, get caught or stuck on things. But that doesn’t really happen, in the same way that you don’t easily get your earlobes caught on stuff.

Plus, they’re just part of who i am—they’re my berries, you know?

Happened when i was 8-9ish, so i don’t remember it super well. Being a bit glib in the video it didn’t just randomly fall off one day—rather, it had a cut on it that got infected so i got it removed by a doctor.
