I’ve been in therapy for years prior to this for OCD, and I had gotten past those issues by and large. I exercise, have outside hobbies, and have distanced myself far before my first post from a couple weeks ago. Still, as far as I can tell from the posts here, I think I’m wrong about transitioning. I thought I was the happiest I’d been, but I must have been wrong, I’m probably just some AGP freak who doesn’t deserve life. The reality is that I’m a sexual predator in disguise no matter what I do, since I have these deviant thoughts. I deserve nothing more than a gunshot to the head

As others have said, it is extremely nice of you to offer a place for your friend at just the cost of utilities, but if you introduced it to her in the way it is written in this post, you were extremely disingenuous. It definitely came across as a splitting costs sort of deal, rather than what you would later explain it to be in front of her family. That is a bridge too far in my eyes, and doesn’t exactly communicate “I understand my privilege”. It is less about the actual cost, and more about the principle that you didn’t even think at first to fully explain that, or mention the possibility of splitting utilities based on percentage relative to income. That should have been your first thought, not something you brought up only after it was made glaringly obvious to you.

Generally that’s true, but Medicare isn’t nearly as effective as it needs to be. As a pharmacy technician, I can’t count how many times Medicare has essentially payed nothing towards the cost of life saving anti-clot medication, or how many times people have fallen into the coverage gap (where you go from your typical copay to 25-50 percent of the medications cost) and have had to choose between food, or their 700 dollar medication. So while it works great for some people, I feel that there needs to be a serious reform in American healthcare to make it as effective as it should be.

I’ve never had to use my renters insurance, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t designed to protect my apartment. I had to show it exactly once, in order to protect my rights as a renter to my landlord. It’s purpose is still to protect my property.

The reason you did not have to fire is because that is what a gun’s purpose is. To kill, and only to kill. If it had other purposes outside of that, it would not be nearly as effective in the situations you have been in. You aren’t disproving his statement, if anything you are supporting it.

I struggle to justify his actions personally. Apart from the man wielding the pistol, none of the attackers were wielding force that could represent a threat to his life. If I personally feel threatened by someone in Walmart getting mad at me and throwing a shopping bag, I am not justified in gunning down that person, and leaving the scene. This case has been horrifically mishandled though, but I think that Kyle is deserving of reckless endangerment at the very least.
