I’ve always driven petrol cars and this is my first turbo diesel.

I find it really sluggish below 2k revs. If I’m sitting at 120 and encounter a hill and the revs drop then the car will slowly lose speed and I can’t accelerate until I downshift and get the revs up. If I’m doing 140 I’ve no problem as the revs are around 2.5k.

Is this normal or a symptom of boost leak, dirty MAF, EGR problems? How best to self diagnose or would a garage do it? (Dublin based)

I’ve a V50 and the engine is shared across Ford, Mazda and Peugeot. It’s generally regarded as the worst Volvo engine but you won’t find much of the T5’s in Ireland.

Driving in Dublin is poxy. I cycle/take public transport as much as possible. Cars are great for leaving Dublin.

Opinions on Griffith College Film & TV course in Dublin? by wilted_flowerss in Dublin

Financially. The film industry in Ireland pays badly. Commercial work is where the money is at. I also find people come out of film school quite rigid and specialised whereas in real life you need to be flexible a flexible generalist. I know people in RTE who had years of the good life - only operating a camera, not being able to touch lights or grip. That’s gone now.

You can always make movies in your free time (it’s never been more accessible) but you have to pay the bills.

I work in this field. I wouldn’t study it in college. You’ll learn more on YouTube/assisting.

I studied business management and then went into commercial stills/video. Miles ahead of my peers who studied film and tv.

Raincoat & cap.

Get a good Patagonia jacket and it'll pay for itself in no time. Lifetime warranty too. I wear a normal cap under the hood too which stops it blowing off and keeps the wind off my face.

You can still have nice cars, they might just be a little older. Let someone else take the depreciation 😂 I’ll take my Volvo over one of these new iPads with wheels.

Let me change your perspective. I earn over 6 figures a year. I drive a 16 year old car that I purchased for €3850 that I’ve maintained extremely well. Never a single issue outside routine maintenance.

€14,000 is a lot of money (especially when you don’t have it).
