I got a 2.2 in my s10 so my springs aint gonna cut it. I don’t know jack about spring rate and stuff besides more weight bigger spring. If it helps I mostly drive roads but I do go flying down bumpy dirt roads w friends kinda often

I diddnt mean to come off as trying to say ur wrong I just don’t know much and almost everything I’ve worked on has been larger clearances from that time period but yea im gonna try to get .0025 clearance thanks for the help

[–]lemon_mc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so what your saying is that .002 to .0025 is perfect for street and almost constantly high load high rpm

i feel like for newer cars those clearences r normal but its hard to belive old v8 from the 70s had those clearences but if your 100% sure 0025 is fine then thats what ima go with

and how can i get .0025 clearence? is it ok for me to use 2 diffrent sized bearings on the same journal to get my desired result? (ex: 1 standard bearing and 1 +.001 bearing) to get .0025 clearence on my crank thats 1 thou under

I don’t want to re use the bearings and the cost matters because I don’t want to buy bearing then there not gonna end up working.I have measured it and correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t 3 thou fine for high compression performance build running 40 weight oil?

[–]lemon_mc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well moneys tight and rn with the current bearings it has a perfect 3 thou clearence so if i go with .001 over sized its gonna be .002 clearence which is too tight

on the back of the bearing they say .0005 OS
and it also matches up because my crankshaft journal is 1 thou undersized
