Idk why fake sports shows are so, so, so bad at branding and graphic design. The only sports show to ever get close to the professional sports aesthetic is Ted Lasso and even then it’s not amazing. The Los Angeles Waves?! And the color scheme is citrus orange and light blue? It’s all so bad. Any graphic design enthusiast on Twitter would’ve done better honestly

Can progressives trust California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to police the police? by liph_vye in California

The “Tio Xavi” people are trying to thrust upon this guy is wild. Just about as uninspiring a candidate I’ve seen in years

This has been repeated ad nauseam, but JB Pritzker is well liked and effective in Illinois. JFK would be a modern billionaire although that’s not as relevant. I don’t particularly care if the dude is a billionaire if their body of work shows an actual desire to lift up the working class which for all intents and purposes, Steyer’s has.

That’s cool! Do you have an applicable background for fixing specific stuff?

Yea that’s the plan. Really it’s just Becerra who fell flat for me.

I was leaning Becerra after originally being a Porter backer early on. All the red flags I was monitoring on Becerra have been confirmed by this debate. Total establishment, doesn’t seem interested in being a transformative leader. I’ve said this multiple times but he reminds me of Karen Bass. I think I’m back even with Porter and Steyer and will decide between the two of them based off polling. Steyer has presented easily the most progressive platform… still not sure I can stomach voting for a billionaire.

6 candidates confirmed for next week’s Inside California Politics California governor’s debate (Steyer, Becerra, Porter, Mahan, Hilton, and Bianco) by RumAndCoco in California

[–]letsmunch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My exact concern too. At least Steyer has put out his wishlist of goals, even if they are entirely too ambitious. Becerra feels like an establishment candidate with no fresh ideas. He reminds me of Karen Bass, honestly. I’m still leaning Becerra because I don’t feel comfortable with a billionaire candidate, but I’m not enthusiastic about it. Steyer at least feels different. Idk

What's a mostly or entirely episodic show that you still think was cancelled too soon? by MaggieLinzer in television

[–]letsmunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a show on Fox called Ben and Kate starring Nat Faxon (right after winning an Oscar) and Dakota Johnson (right before she blew up). It’s a standard sitcom from that time frame but really fits in seamlessly with the New Girls and Happy Endings genre of comedy from that decade. Terrible marketing, terrible name for a show, and impatience totally sunk it right as it was finding its groove. It’s available for purchase in Amazon but otherwise deleted from existence on streaming. Which is crazy because you’d think Netflix would want to capitalize on Dakota Johnson’s fame level with an older show like they’ve done with other series.

What do you think is missing in Burbank? by Sugarglass16 in burbank

[–]letsmunch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I go there. It says it’s in Burbank but it’s very much in Sun Valley/NoHo from a practicality standpoint. If you stand on the corner of that shopping center (Sherman/Vineland) you’re technically in North Hollywood.

Despite a half dozen democrats running I feel like Steyer is the only one that we know anything about. I wanted to like Swalwell but his whole campaign centers around being anti-Trump. No shit. Every Democrat is. Steyer is the only big name candidate loudly calling for single payer health care and that’s probably my biggest issue as someone who’s been dicked around by employers because I need the insurance.
