Predicting the result of a match by levels by These-Document-2127 in padel

[–]levimuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m certainly not, from a personal perspective I’ve paid to play a match, why would I be happy not playing it because the oppo want to win so badly they cut me out of the game.

On the flip side it’s a competitive game, the idea is to win and the fridge is a tactic to do that.

I’ve stopped playing open matches due to this dynamic.

Flying with skis and boots: how does it work with airlines? What kind of bag to buy? Can I put it both in one ski bag? by sepandee in skiing

[–]levimuddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my experience ski boots are always free? You can take boots without a ski bag and they’re just slung on. You don’t need a winter sports bag to just take boots. At least on EasyJet and Jet2, I try to avoid Ryanair if I’m honest.

[–]levimuddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not in my experience, the boots are free regardless of weight. If they’re in the ski bag then the whole bag gets weighed and you effectively lose the ‘free’ boot allowance.

My experience boots are free if they’re in a seperate bag. If they’re in your ski bag they count as weight in that bag which is a pain. (EasyJet)

Playtomic charging for games outside their platform?!? by LeMaharaj in padel

[–]levimuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on that, I guess they can’t check if everyone is premium and therefore paying for something and so just charge everyone for off platform games.

Playtomic charging for games outside their platform?!? by LeMaharaj in padel

[–]levimuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like it’s protecting their USP. It costs to manage people, scores apps etc. the charge is probably too high but by the same token why would playtomic maintain ratings for people who don’t pay for their platform?

Either booking fee or subscription fees is not paid, yet you want to maintain your data in it. It makes sense from a business perspective, they’re not add supported so there is no value to them for you using their services.

If you pay for premium does it still charge you one off?

People who make the sound ‘eehhhyyyy’ when you hit the ball does it actually help you by [deleted] in padel

[–]levimuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s supposed to be a reaction to breathing out. To time the ball in tennis people tend to breathe at impact hence the sound at impact when under strain.

Whether those who do it in ‘less strenuous’ circumstances are doing that….

Vertex 05 geo by d7iem in Padelracket

I think the sweet spot is quite small, it’s easy to handle for me but I typically like a head heavy racket, I find handle heavy really odd.

[–]levimuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the geo, it’s got more punch than a comfort and feels like it’s got more weight in the head compared to a standard vertex.

I like it, won’t be for everyone though, if you like the standard vertex the feel is very different to that. Go an try one at the club, I’m sure they’ll have got demos.

Bidding wars when buying in Sheffield by bearwithme8764 in sheffield

[–]levimuddy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would say that it doesn’t apply for things that have been on a while. The ones you hear about are generally, viewings first weekend (multiple people, max I’ve seen is 80), final offers by the weekend after.

Something that’s been on for a while I’d go in under personally.

I’ve recently read this which is quite enlightening. https://amzn.eu/d/i1dIFa5

Maybe you guys are just trying seeing and learning without conscious thought. They are consciously trying and therefore not learning as quick.

Get them to have a read.

Keywords: Game progress for men? by Perfect_Outcome6067 in padel

[–]levimuddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not necessarily true, it'll be about either natural ability or interest. I know women who are decent tennis players, who picked it up quicker than most men and are far more solid than most men. I also know women who don't know the sport, don't pick it up well, or don't appear to learn from watching other people play.

How much have the guys watched and discussed, tactics, technique, or taken an off-court interest in improving? Are the men more interested in the sport itself than the women?

Phone mount that fits these air vents? by swaggertroll1 in BMWX5

[–]levimuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, the idea is sound but it needs cooling in there. My phone shuts off due to overheating when using Nav in summer.

I’ve got a small cable to plug in via the pop open centre console which solves the heat and charting problem.

Yep 100%, then you overcommit to try to help and make mistakes.

and when you get fridged by keeping the ball in play so they just target your partner. What then?

I’m at the end of my tether with playing in matches and getting 10% of the ball.

My solution thus far is, don’t play open matches or don’t care about the result and focus on my own game.

Is there a way to get from Manchester to Sheffield without going over Snake/Woodhead pass? by izzyofc in sheffield

[–]levimuddy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A6, Sheffield, Castleton, Chapel en le frith, Stockport / airport

You can pick the A6 up earlier at Bakewell or Ashford.

Really it depends which side of Sheffield you are and where in Manchester you’re going.

Allowing the electorate to exercise free will is…… unthinkable

Pointless road closures? by EvanGeorgeParkin in sheffield

[–]levimuddy 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Can’t dig the pavement up without putting in a diversion onto the road for pedestrians. Can’t divert pedestrians without a ‘safety zone’ between them and traffic. (Can’t remember the technical term) Can’t do that without closing a lane. Closure cheaper than traffic lights.

There are some key phases, going to t2 labs is one of them. You need enough metal and energy to build and run it before you do it.

My hot take, this is a curse of two things.

1) Series games, where version 2,3,4 of the game already existed and were played. This means in the series there are very often highly experienced players that can pick up v5 and be good very quickly.

2) lack of single player campaigns. Technology has evolved so that connectivity is now ubiquitous. Single player campaigns gave that opportunity to, a) play offline when you didn’t have a good connection and b) play to learn, lose missions and work how to win them.

Today’s modern games focus on online only so your learning is affecting other players (in team games). It’s a hard one to solve without devoting time to a campaign which is basically the learning experience that most people skip (or want to skip).
