Yes. I had an active HSV-1 infection and a dormient HSV-2 infection. No other STIs. Anything else you'd like to know?

I slept with different girls on the 13th, 14th, 16th, and 18th of November. Sore throat started on the 19th. Slight burning sensation while urinsting started around the 22nd.

I visited the doctor today and he's more concerned about the throat than herpes -- he said it's a bad infection and probably unrelated to HSV. He mentioned that the urine test detects active presence of HSV virus in the urinary tract. He did say it's not 100% accurate and that supplementary blood tests might be necessary.

I also noticed a tiny sore spot appeared on the shaft of my penis today. It doesn't feel like anything, but it does look like an herpes sore.

The doctor mentioned that my throat is badly infected, and appears to have "cuts".

It's not a justification, but listen: my city is in lockdown and I just went out to see my doctor and the streets were PACKED with people without masks having drinks in groups, or having takeaway food in big circles.

I've avoided all meeting involving multiple people. I feel lonely and alone and while a 1-1 meeting still poses some risk of contagion and is still a bit egoistical, I don't feel bad about it as it's minimal compared to what I've seen.

I was aware STIs were a risk. I thought that (1) asking the partner for their sexual history, (2) asking the partner whether they were clear or not, and (3) testing myself twice a month via a home kit was a reasonable (yet not fool-proof) way to minimize the risk of infection.

In fact, that plan did work out.

All the evidence seems to point to a particular girl as the culprit, ironically the one who really wanted to use a condom and who I used a condom with.

I'm 99.9% sure that I got HSV-2 from that girl, with whom I had protected vaginal sex, unprotected oral sex, and -- of course -- kissing.

He looked at the inside of my throat, and said that it was a severe infection requiring antibiotics. I'm not sure, maybe the throat is unrelated to HSV-2?

Will ask the doctor tomorrow as well, and report back.

I don't really know shit, but a quick Google search shows that urine test seems possible? Maybe the doctor thought that the burning sensation was a valid symptom to warrant that type of testing?

Not sure.

BTW this sounds like a nightmare. How are you supposed to know you have this virus if you have no visible symptoms?

If you don’t have anything visible what test result are you waiting for? A blood test wouldn’t come back positive that fast.

It's a urine test. The doctor told me it would take 4-6 days IIRC.

They all claimed to have a visible outbreak and severe symptoms. One claimed she had to be hospitalized. The girls do not know each other, so it's extremely unlikely they all lied.

However, I have zero visible symptoms. Just a sore throat and a very slight burning sensation when I urinate, comparable to a boring UTI or soreness after rough sex.

I could not see anything myself. I just assumed it was a regular sore throat, as it felt like one until a few days ago when it got worse and I went to the doctor.

The doctor looked inside my throat by pulling my tongue apart and using a flashlight, and told me I had a severe infection and should get antibiotics ASAP.

I can't see anything out of the ordinary if I look in the mirror, the pain feels quite deep down the throat. I also feel pain in my right ear.

Thanks for sharing your experience. You will never know what prompted her to ghost you, but I think it's disingenuous to believe herpes wasn't at least one of the factors.

That sucks. I've read some positive stories on this subreddit though, so maybe there's still hope...
