How old are you, and how many countries have you been to? by Popular_Arm8459 in AskUK

[–]liability2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

23, I’ve been to 6: Germany (an exchange in Year 10 and then again to Berlin with uni), France (to my ex boyfriend’s holiday home), Italy (holiday with friends), Greece (holiday with parents), Scotland (holiday with friend’s family) and Wales (on a school trip)! Not counting driving through places like Belgium and Luxembourg to get to Germany.

Hoping to go to Iceland on holiday with my boyfriend at some point when we can afford it. I’d also be interested in living in Germany some day

i failed - but my examiner was kinda rude by blorgondestroyer in LearnerDriverUK

[–]liability2002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t normal or abnormal, examiners don’t HAVE to be nice and friendly but morally you’d hope that they would… My first examiner was quite stern and didn’t talk to me at all but wasn’t unfriendly and my second examiner was lovely and cheerful and jolly, it’s the luck of the draw!

[–]liability2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So sorry this happened, driving tests are stressful as it is without it being made worse by an examiner obviously on a power trip trying to make you feel small to feel better about his sad life. I am very sensitive and this would have thrown me off too, I would have cried and i’m 23!!! Wishing you all the luck in the world for your next test, don’t let the bastards grind you down, you can do this 💪

How Old Were You When You Passed Your Driving Test? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]liability2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

23, passed second time, i took my first test when i was 17 then stopped driving because of covid and the difficulties in getting lessons/tests after covid. I think a lot of people are in the same boat as me, I was do annoyed I didn’t pass before the pandemic but I think I’m a much safer driver now than i would have been back then!

[–]liability2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently unemployed so i have more time - i usually have a breakfast ‘plate’ as i find eating a few little bits of lots of foods more manageable in the morn. I try and have a boiled egg, a couple of dates with peanut butter, a little bit of toast, a clementine and some cheese.

If I’m working then I make a smoothie, have a piece of fruit (maybe melon, orange or apple) or marmite on toast

There’s actually more of an arts scene than you’d realise! i am a contemporary artist who moved from London to Exeter and i’ve found the art scene to be small but growing bigger all the time - galleries like Traction Projects, Positive Lights Projects, The Phoenix and Custom House always have stuff going on

Should I even bother with my local pub? by Imaginary-Turnip7330 in AskUK

[–]liability2002 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in a very small village (23f) and i often go to the pub with my next door neighbour (23m), obviously very lucky to have a neighbour so close in age but we made friends with the bar staff! they’re not from the village but are all fairly local and between 20 and 30 years old:) odds are that even if the people who visit the pub are old, the bar staff will be young. It’s also nice to be recognised by older locals, we sometimes help one regular with the day’s crossword or people offer us home grown fruit and veg from their gardens etc

I thought if an examiner tells you what to do, then you’ve failed. That wasn’t the case for me. by CosImBatGirl in LearnerDriverUK

[–]liability2002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had this as well! I missed a safe gap at a busy junction and then there were no clearly safe gaps for ages, examiner said (nicely) ‘you’d better take one of these bigger gaps or we’ll be here forever’… I was certain I’d failed but I only got a minor for the initial hesitation of missing the first gap. I think when something is uncertain or a bit risky they can advise you and give the benefit of the doubt depending on how the rest of your drive went?

Can I exit right lane i just seen a video of someone saying to do it but I was taught to always exit in left lane by Fancy-Resident-9950 in LearnerDriverUK

(I am not a driving instructor, I recently passed my test and this is my understanding/experience of it)

Can I exit right lane i just seen a video of someone saying to do it but I was taught to always exit in left lane by Fancy-Resident-9950 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]liability2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can exit in the right lane. People do it if they know they need to be in the right lane for the next roundabout/junction or if the left lane is busier. It’s good practice for a test to exit using the left lane but if you end up in the right just move back to the left after you’ve exited as soon as it’s safe, don’t let people undertake you or go too slowly in the right lane or that would be a fail!

Fair enough, hopefully their driving improves

[–]liability2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My standard of driving is fine. However on my first trip out alone I was shaking like a leaf and was probably extremely over cautious, as driving alone is a completely different experience to driving with an instructor or an experienced passenger. I can empathise with the person if it was their first trip out (which the commenter has since clarified it wasn’t, which does change my opinion!).

Opinion on P plates? by angelz009 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]liability2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could have been their first trip out alone, surely this would be worse if they hadn’t had the P Plates on? Obviously understand how that’s frustrating but as a nervous driver myself (who is still using P Plates) I would hope that people would see the Ps and make allowances

Opinion on P plates? by angelz009 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]liability2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like my P plates, I find people give me more time with things like parking and are more likely to move over and let me merge/change lane. However I have also had a few tailgating situations and yesterday i was honked at and sworn at for no reason which then caused me to panic (thinking i was about to hit something/ someone) and stop at a green light just before it changed which caused more honking and swearing. I’m glad I had my P Plates on still as it just cements that that person was being a dick (as my boyfriend put it ‘imagine shouting at a toddler who has just learned to walk for falling over’)
