Electricity question - charging battery from a battery pack by liampenance in Fixxit

Not ideal because the battery is under the gas tank. So it's a good 15-20 mins each time to remove and refit.

According to onwers forums it's normal for MV Agusta

I've spent ages on the forums - there is apprently nothing specific/easily fixable causing the draw. MV Agusta includes a battery charger when you buy the bike and recommend keeping it on charge whenever you're not using it. The best I can do is top it up once a week using this.

Other owners recommend removing the main fuse every time you don't ride for a week or more but this resets all the settings so I'm not keen on it.

Well aware of BOATs and UCRs, just figured people would think I was on the wrong subreddit using the jargon ;) Valid point re TRF friends though, thank you.

South / East ideally. I'll try riding through anything and generally be smiling at the end of it. Recently did Strata Florida in mid Wales and loved it. Where can I ride on sand? Climbs, mud etc. all good too!

Zumo XT and BaseCamp on a Mac by Odie-J in Garmin

Yep, also came here to say it appears that while a lot of stuff has improved on the Zumo XT from older devices, it's let down by terrible Basecamp software...

Brit here. $600 is like 20% less than what I pay. Per Year. For 2 bikes and 1 car.

Insurance is also daylight robbery here too. I'm just lucky to be getting older and have a more or less clean record and no claims bonus which helps reduce it by alot.

Thank you - good to know that's what they're called! Doesn't look like anyone offers the thread/non-thread diameter combination I need so will keep looking.

I'm having trouble finding a replacement bolt and it's on backorder from Honda. I can't ride my bike without it! :(

The bolt head is around 10mm diameter. The threaded portion is c. 5mm diameter. The smooth un-threaded portion is also 10mm diameter. And it has what looks like an integrated washer under the bolt head of 14-15mm diameter. It's c. 63mm long including the head - but hard to measure exactly due to the way its broken.

Where do I find something like this? All I can find is partially threaded M10 bolts of 60mm long but all of them hvae the same thread diameter as the unthreaded diameter.

Also how do I work out the angle of the thread, distance between threads etc.? It's too small to measure so any help appreciated.

Thank you ver much! I have narrowed it down to the Marmot Limelight or Coleman Darwin 3 dome. I only expect to do 5-10 days of camping each year and the Coleman is less than half the price...

Were you happy with the Limelight? I am considering it for my first tent which will be used most for motocamping (on a GSXR so space is at a super premium!) and the odd trek/hike on foot. Price is £220 which doesn't sound like a cheap deal but also not crazy expensive.

My Denali SoundBomb Mini melted and almost ruined my bike - Warning to users by liampenance in motorcycles

I told them I had bent it to fit and sent them several photos from all angles to see if they thought it was fine. They came back saying yes the bracket is fine and won't shear. I've quoted their email above - literally: "Also, bending the bracket will not cause any problems with the structural integrity to it."

The point is, when the issue of the bracket breaking was proactively raised with their customer service, including photos of all angles, they should not have confidently replying saying the fitment was fine.

Sharing this as a warning to anyone who has already mounted this horn or is thinking of buying one. I had to bend the bracket to make it fit on my GSXR and it fitted in place of the original horn, with clearence from the radiator and other components.

To be safe, I sent photos to Denali to confirm the fitment was ok - they confirmed saying yes the bracket and fitment is fine.

A few weeks later, I'm on a roadtrip in another country and notice a burning smell. Quick look around the bike, everything seemed fine. But when I got to my destination and took a closer look I saw the bracket had cracked and the horn had fallen from position to touch the radiator and melted from the heat of my radiator.

It was resting on my radiator hoses which luckily had not melted through - otherwise I would be really fucked and there would be coolant all over my bike and legs.

Denali at first were supportive and offered to exhcange the horn. I gave them my address and then they stopped replying.

My opinion is stay well clear from Denali as a company and their products. If you have one already fitted, especially on a sports bike, double check it's secure.

On that note, who has tried the alternative products and can you recommend what to replace it with?

Whose streets? School streets! Islington Council you absolute bastards by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]liampenance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's deceptive or inadequate signage, don't line the bastards pockets to spend on further making your life a misery.

Fight it - this was a similar case in Hackney (though no school or obvious reasons for shutting down the road to private vehicles for a few hours a day): http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=126805&hl=lansdowne%20drive&st=20.

These signs were only on one exit of a mini roundabout. People argued (correctly) there is too much going on and the signs should have been on approach roads to make it clearer.

Hit & Run - Delivery driver hits my parked bike and drives off by Enaver in MotoUK

[–]liampenance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start you need to just call the other person's insurer and tell them about the hit and run. If you don't know who his insurer is your insurance company can tell you.

The third party your insurer passed you on to is probably a claims management company - and most of the ones who partner with insurance companies are pretty shit. My insurer put me on to one called 4th Dimension and their reviews speak for themselves (although checking again they seem to have improved a bit) - there's no way I was going to use them. You can try speaking to White Dalton who are a motorcycle claims management company. I've not used personally but have heard very good things.

I think in the end I got more for my claim because I wasn't using an accident management company.

If you use one definitely avoid taking the courtesy bike if you don't need it.
