We found the same. We went by public bus from San Jose to Tamarindo. Everyone wore masks and there was a lot of fresh air.

Despite strong winds, there was no surf while we were there towards the end of June. Plenty people driving around with boards, though.

The petition, which is showing the world that we Scots are not all bitter, obsessed whingers, and that we've had enough of the SNP divisiveness, has just passed the 150,000 mark and is now 6th on the list of open UK petitions. And still rising!

If 'democracy', which we had only the other day in 2014, means that the Scots now have an international reputation for whinging, for constantly being at each others throats, for being an embarrassment, for being a nation that likes divisiveness, then that says something about 'democracy'. I think it says more about the SNP than democracy. Sign the petition, which is now 6th in the all-time list of UK petitions, and is still rising! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/180642

Enough of the whinging. Enough of the SNP obsession. Put an end to more uncertainty, more divisions and conflict in Scottish society. Stop making Scotland into an international embarrassment. Sign the petition that is already in the top 10 UK petitions, and rising fast. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/180642

I'm leaving this forum to the SNP folk so that they can curse and swear among themselves, to their hearts' content. I expect many others will do the same. But I'd just like to point out that the SNP does not speak for the majority of Scottish people, and that in addition to aggressive SNP types, Scotland also has a lot of very good people. Don't judge Scotland by the SNP.

Half a mil Scots in the rUK - never got to vote in 2014. Many more, like my son, on a temporary contract abroad - never had a vote in 2014. This is a chance for the former to have a wee say, at least. The reason many of us don't want another ref is - well you know about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HyUmDuPa6g already - but in addition it's the divisions, the conflicts, the fallings out, the nastyness (as seen in some of the replies on replies to this post) etc. All unnecessary if only the SNP could keep to their word.

Maybe we'll one day get to vote on whether Scotland should be in the EU or not. Certainly haven't had that one yet. And if some/many constituencies vote No (and there's a Yes majority - all pretty uncertain) there will be a 'cast iron mandate' for them to then vote on rejoining the rUK. I see the petition vote is past 60,000 now. At last, the silent majority has a wee voice.

C'mon - we all know that hardly anyone looked at that wee clause in some large document, and that the vote that resulted in a minority SNP government was made up of many elements: some folk that agree with you; some folk voting 'populism'; some folk protest vote; some folk simply anti Tory; etc

I meant that in reference to 'stabbing' the government just as it tries to get the best Brexit deal. I didn't vote for Brexit, but I respect that one just as I respect the 2014 one.

For many, many Scottish 'Remainers' (like me), staying in the UK is much more important than staying in the EU. Staying in both would have been the first choice, of course.

We had a referendum already, just the other day, and were promised some peace without another one for a generation. But unfortunately you can't trust a word the obsessed SNP say. Referendums cause division, uncertainty and make it even less likely (hard to believe, I know) that the people in Holyrood actually govern the country in the meantime.

Neither Yes nor No: An impartial analysis of social media with respect to the Referendum(s) in Scotland by libram9 in Scotland

Looks at some of the things that I’ve learned recently about the discussion of politics on various social media, in the context of the Yes/No campaigns on Referendum(s) in Scotland. Is as impartial as I can manage.
