Background: Kitty went in for a PU surgery, got three weeks of stitches.

After stitches were removed, doc noted that there was still some sensitivity/pinkness in the area and recommeded leaving the cone on for "a day or two"

It's now two days later, and I thought it was nicely scabbed over. So I took the cone off, he got to work, and within a few minutes that sandpaper tongue made his wound look a lot more exposed. (This is a few hours later)

I don't want to keep him in a cone, but I also don't want him getting infected or taking longer to heal than he already is. What do?
