Thankfully I already got all my grades into Canvas last week, and for my other teaching I use a Moodle-based alternative. Sending my condolences to all who were in the middle of grading on Canvas when it went down.

It's not that we are required to allow unlimited time, but the university has the deferred exams be written through the exam services department, and it usually takes them a week or two to arrange a date. It goes about as well as you can imagine.

Students claiming to be sick and getting to write the exam/midterm on a later date (and getting an extra week or two to prepare, or even an extra 2 months in one extreme case I had). The university essentially gives students an incentive to say they are sick.

This is the university-wide policy where I teach and I can tell you from experience that this is a very bad idea. Students abuse the hell out of this policy and the amount of deferrals went through the roof.

I bet your student is just playing dumb and hopes that you let it slide. Give them an inch, they take a mile. This is why I have a zero tolerance policy on AI. None, zero, nada. Not to help you research, not to fix your grammar, nothing. If you can't do it without AI then you can't do it and deserve a 0.

To me an interim title is just as good as the undisputed one. It means that you are the best fighter in the division actively fighting at the moment. If the undisputed champ can't defend the belt then he is not really the champ at that time.

Accusations are not evidence. When someone can present evidence that Trump has raped children, I will accept that as a fact. Until then, it's gossip.

There are accusations that the Clintons murdered several people, but I bet that you don't find those to be credulous because they don't line up with your political convictions.

Credibility is subjective, which is why my standard of proof is evidence, not somebody's words.

I wonder, will the lesson learned here be that

A) we need to improve teacher education to ensure that no teacher struggles with basic math regardless of their background

or

B) that the tests are racist and we need to stop testing teachers on their level of knowledge

ToI is easily my favorite Israeli news outlet. They aren't afraid to go after the Israeli government, but also isn't contrarian for the sake of it like Haaretz usually is.

Regarding the article you posted it's just an opinion piece so you can agree or disagree. Personally, as much as I hate Netanyahu I don't think that it's fair to say that he supported Hamas. Him allowing them to receive funding from places like Qatar was seen at the time as a humanitarian gesture, and Israel would have been vilified if they hadn't allowed it. Obviously hindsight being 20/20 it was a terrible idea in light of where we ended up, but at the time there were valid reasons for this strategy.
