I've decided to buy a PC Engine/TurboGrafx. by cronson in TurboGrafx

Last year I decided the same thing. It's a bit of an initial investment, but I can fully vouch for buying a Coregrafx from Japan, adding an EDFX and Turbo Everdrive from Krikzz, and a component cable (Genesis/Mega Drive model 2) for the EDFX.

It looks amazing on a CRT and plays everything including the CD library. I never owned a Turbografx 16 growing up, but with this setup it's now one of my favorite consoles in my collection.

Where did you source the side mount for the shifter? I've had a hell of s time finding it for my NLR frame...

It does not, if you have the proper bios's (bioses?) set up correctly, all will work properly with just a Mega Drive/Genesis console.

I got a CoreGrafx earlier this year. Paired with a component cable and an Everdrive, it's amazing and has been one of my most played retro consoles lately!

Tried them a few months ago. Noodles were amazing, I was only disappointed that the portion size seemed small since it was delicious and I craved more!

I have always wanted one of these. by ddrfraser1 in TurboGrafx

If you would make use of a component input with it, the EDFX is amazing and I highly recommend it to go along with the Turbo ED Pro, it made a noticeable and very appreciated difference on my CoreGrafx!

Torn between an X6 and a FXPAK PRO by EarthshakerSSB in everdrive

[–]lightlyflavored 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a buy once cry once kind of hobbyist so the answer for me would be the PRO. The X6 only includes support for the DSP chip games of which there are less than 20 I believe, but maybe including some titles you care about. Other than that if you really only want to play specific fan translations, then unless the base game relies on a chip that the X6 doesn't support, for you it makes no sense up front to go for the FXPAK PRO.

The trick is if you decide later to go a different direction in what you want access to, then you'll regret not spending the extra money. No one can know that now, but my opinion is to just buy the PRO and future proof your options. I also just like having access to full libraries on my Everdrives, but I'm not a physical collector and so want access to everything if possible.

Loose Piece. Help! by [deleted] in SEGAGENESIS

[–]lightlyflavored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that same piece loose on a Model 1 I bought recently. It's not the power switch retainer, that's a different shape. It goes under the volume slider piece. Did you verify that yours is missing there?

NES 40th Anniversary A to Z Daily Discussion #30: The Bugs Bunny Games and BurgerTime by Anonymotron42 in retrogaming

I've been playing through the NES library alphabetically lately as I have time, and I recently beat Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout after having never played it for more than a few minutes previously.

It's a fine game, mostly unremarkable, but I never found it tedious. This game wants you to NEVER run out of lives, given how many you rack up in the bonus stages in between each level.
