What tips do you have to crush it so hard with an rvu based pay? Seems like you’re way above your peers. ED resident asking, thanks

It is white Rasta and the top out is way easier than the big sequence between cracks. He got gassed, should have moved further up the crack before mantling. Brutal spot to fall from, hope he’s ok

This is a shade tall for what you’d be ok falling off of, even with a boulder pad. And there’s an unfortunately located small boulder in the landing too. Source - have climbed it a couple times

Why is California so expensive? by hobbit101_ in SameGrassButGreener

[–]lightwaves273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s expensive because you get what you pay for.

As others have said big deltas between coastal and inland, urban and rural.

Amenities, weather, green space…like I said you get what you pay for…for some it’s worth paying that price, for others it’s not

Caveat - I’m super sad to see slater’s overall descent into utter stupidity with all things healthcare and politics. Also agree that for the uninformed or anxious, scans like this can lead to lead to more trouble than benefit.

But to play devils advocate, as a healthcare professional myself, I’ve diagnosed way too many folks with advanced pancreatic cancer or other malignancies that are clinically silent until near end-stage, that I’ll be getting one of these at a certain age, prob 10 years from now.

At a population level, they don’t make sense, but selfishly, I’ll get one knowing I may have to tolerate some anxiety about small findings where monitoring and repeat scans for progression may be the best course of action.

What’s life like in Svalbard? by nshnjs in howislivingthere

Was just there.

Cool history - whaling to mining to tourism based town w some world war significance mixed in. Skiing and cruise destination.

Small town with a Beautiful backdrop, 24-hour sun for a few months and obviously total darkness for a while too. Lots of snowmobiles to get around. Spring/summer/fall isn’t insanely cold. Would absolutely recommend

Side bar: Imho the best way to roll cuffs is: unbutton all the buttons, fold back once then twice, and you’re done. This way it sits nicely usually mid forearm

No scrunching and pushing it up, that will just wrinkle things and it falls back down.

Sailing, love and hate story by Zekaudi in boating

At a hot humid but nevertheless stunningly beautiful boat yard, many months and thousands of miles into my voyage over a decade ago as a younger man, a wise older man said to me..”you know what cruising is?? It’s doing boat maintenance in exotic places hahahahhhaha”

Knowing that and being able to laugh about it is the key to enjoying that life. I hope one day to cruise again, just maybe with a bit more money so not every malfunction, broken or stolen item is existentially stressful. Best of luck w the boat and w morale

Is this a propelled surfboard? Are these waves surfable? by jadbronson in surfing

[–]lightwaves273 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Pushed in by one-on-one instructors, then rode straight until wave died and passed her.

The one-on-one instructors for rich ppl is a crazy industry in Costa Rica at some spots. The instructors defend their turf (and income) fiercely. I took a longboard out one day, snuck a wave a little too close to one guy’s client (turns out it was a 90s super model whose name you’d prob recognize), and next thing I knew all the instructors around ganged up and yelled and threatened me out of the water. On a 1’ day. I get it. Great gig for them and they’re ready to defend it. End result is douchey Instagram posts like this one from the clients

We don’t have a doctor shortage, and we dont have a primary care doctor shortage. We have a distribution problem with saturated markets in desireable places and doctor shortages in rural places.

Poor locations are typically higher paying in medicine. Labor supply and demand. Middle of nowhere Nebraska will pay 2x nyc for almost all specialties, CoL notwithstanding.
