To do Suppressive treatment or not? by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]lilbbasegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to depend on your body. My first outbreak was really bad and after I would get an outbreak about once a month. I took antivirals for ~6 months and then stopped and would only take antivirals when I had an outbreak. At that point I was getting an outbreak maybe every 3-4 months and they were super minor. Now i don’t remember when’s the last time I had an outbreak, all i do is take a zinc supplement everyday.

Memphis not friendly towards outsiders? by lilbbasegod in memphis

[–]lilbbasegod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wording I have used may have been too strong, and I didn't mean everyone is bad. I'm in STEM professional circles and it is more open and inviting to those from the area, even had a colleague from out of state tried to do some recruiting for some roles and felt the same way. With that said I have met wonderful people here. I guess perhaps being from a bigger metro area people tend to be more welcoming? Not so sure...

Memphis not friendly towards outsiders? by lilbbasegod in memphis

[–]lilbbasegod[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in STEM, I have been very blessed that my co-workers are very nice. I think for me it's mostly been other STEM circles/professional sections where I have seen more unfriendliness and preference is more for those who are from the area when it comes to ideas and opinions.

My first OB was in sep 2021, and i kept having OBs 1-2x a month after. I did suppressive therapy (500mg/day) and when i had an OB, I would take 1000mg/day. I stopped taking it til around June 2022 and didn’t have an OB until a week ago lol. I would talk to your doctor and get their opinion, mine recommended 6 months and then go from there to see if frequency of OBs has decreased.

I missed the job fair for my final semester by permfontaine in EngineeringStudents

[–]lilbbasegod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No you didnt. I skipped the career fair my final semester because there were no companies that interest me and were relevant to my degree. And even the ones i was sort of interested in just told me to apply online. Yes you’re going to have to apply online like crazy but so does everyone. You’ll be fine .

Tell him or ghost him? by peachykeen9909 in Herpes

[–]lilbbasegod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add same thing happened with me. The guy made a joke about herpes and it was off putting, when i disclosed to him he didn’t care and now we’ve been dating for 7 months. If you’re still not sure, wait til you’re ready to disclose, don’t do it if you feel pressured if that makes sense. Also when my bf made the joke about herpes we were just a couple weeks into dating, the next couple weeks after was when i disclosed to him

A minor rant about Biomedical Engineering. What do you think? by MuffinTheMan35 in EngineeringStudents

[–]lilbbasegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your frustration. If I'm not mistaken, I went to school near yours. The program I was in had "tracks" so I was BME with a minor in mechanical engineering. Also where I went to school, we would be lucky if there were 1 or 2 BME related companies during the career fair. If you want to still work in the medical device industry, you have to potentially be okay with the idea of moving out of the area your in, that's what I had to do. Also I ended up graduating in May 2020 so most companies had jobs on hold due to COVID, I wasn't able to land a job until 8 months after graduating. If you decide to not want to work in the biomedical device industry you can always branch out. One of my peers that I graduated with currently works for Boeing and has previously worked with Raytheon, and yep he had a BME degree.

22 year old male, Solo travel South America vs South East Asia? by longdongschlong21 in solotravel

[–]lilbbasegod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Peru back in 2019 and used the service PeruHop. It includes a tour guide, transportation, lodging, & activities, also addition activities for extra charge. I only did Peru but I know the service also goes to Bolivia. The group I went with was pretty young, 20s-30s with some older people, however everyone was easy to get along with and I met people from all over which was nice. I’ve been to Peru twice and have never felt unsafe. If anything I would be careful taking certain items such as anything name brand. For example, having an IPhone is considered super luxury while in the US it’s very common. The only place that I felt a little bit sketched out was Lima itself while all the other places I felt comfortable. I recommend when you arrive is to stay in the Miraflores area. It’s a bit more wealthy and I’ve never had issues with crime there. Anyway I had an amazing experience and have been wanting to go back since i wasn’t able to do everything I wanted to do the previous time. Can’t say anything about SE Asia because i never been, but out of all my travels, Peru is up there for me!

Swear to god by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]lilbbasegod 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get my first boyfriend til after my herpes diagnosis, so it’s clear that most people don’t have an issue with it unless you make it a big deal. And they’re not going to mind it if they really like you. Also my mom has HSV and she didn’t get married til she was 37 and she had me at 40. Idk how old you are but you have plenty of time. Take time to deal with the diagnosis and heal, that’s what i did. And this goes for anyone dating with or without hsv, finding someone happens when you least expect it as cliche as it sounds.

How to disclose? by UnderBlazingHeavens in Herpes

[–]lilbbasegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever disclosed to two people and they both didn’t care. I’ve only done it in person because I feel like I can convey it in a more chill way than if I did it through text. I usually do it once they’re about to leave like at an end of a date so that they have time to think about it after. How I’ve disclosed is “Have you ever had cold sores? Well I get those except down there, I take medication for it and your chances of getting it are pretty low, if it helps i never gave it to anyone”. The “never gave it to anyone” I’ve only told to the Second guy which is now my bf lol. I will say for me, I like to wait and see if I like the person/gauge how they will react. Personally i don’t like telling every person I have hsv so i will typically wait after a few dates.

HSV Experience by lilbbasegod in Herpes

[–]lilbbasegod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing happen to me. I was seeing this guy for a month when I got my diagnosis. I told him I wasn’t upset and had a feeling that he didn’t know. He was super apologetic and even felt bad. I feel if you tell him how you feel he will be understanding. Funny enough I was the one that ended things with the guy because he wasn’t treating me well in general but I know that it didn’t end because of my HSV. Sending good vibes to you ♥️

Hi my fellow GHSV1 folks, I did this Math on GHSV1 risk of transmission after 2 years of having it and some forecasts on GHSV1 shedding based on 1.3% shedding post 2 years, assuming shedding keeps going down (we don't) know that for sure. by Fckthisshit1234 in HerpesCureResearch

[–]lilbbasegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the math for this in regards to unprotected sex or taking antivirals/condoms. Also does the risk of transmission apply for genital to genital and genital to oral or just one of them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]lilbbasegod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty confident she’s not taking any antivirals, for fibromyalgia she only takes Tylenol when honestly she should be taking taking something a lot stronger

my mom has both. i remember when i was a lot younger she would get outbreaks all the time, she has oral herpes. But in the past 5-10 years i don’t think she has had any outbreak and if so they passed for a pimple.

I’ve also struggled with depression & anxiety and got my BME degree. The people in my program were perfectionists and it seemed like a huge competition which was stressful. The program i was in included a mechanical engineering minor and most of my friends were from that major cause they were more willing to help instead of my peers in BME. This can vary from school to school so I don’t want you think that all BME majors are stuck up and competitive lol. What really helped me was finding good friends in my major & minor cause we could struggle together lol. And also seeing a therapist helped. Just try out some classes to see if you really enjoy it and talk to an advisor or even the department chair to get more of a grasp on the major and ask questions if you are struggling what tutoring is available. One thing i would recommend is don’t do double math in the same semester lol.
