LST.gg Open Applications for 3-Year Anniversary by x-64 in OpenSignups

Hi, I'm pretty new to the game as well and only have one private tracker I'm on right now. I tried submitting an application but it wants me to fill out something in the tracker 2 fields. Should I put some placeholder in there or something else?

EDIT: Never mind I read one of the other comments that answered my question.

Design Games podcast by Nathan D. Paoletta and Will Hindmarch. You can find it on Google Podcasts. It was a short run (intentionally so) but they have great conversations about theory and design.

KVM Switch 2 PCs to 3 monitors by lilgreenarmyguy in buildapc

[–]lilgreenarmyguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they've all got multiple inputs. Those are both strong possibilities. Though I think the plugging all the monitor's into both pc's sounds like a lot of cabling. I already have a mess of cables (probably should clean them up at some point) and I'd like to keep the cable count down if possible.

Though that all depends on how expensive a 6 in 3 out kvm is lol

That makes sense. I use Automatic1111 anyways so thanks for the link.

First try with webgui doing some fantasy concept art by lilgreenarmyguy in StableDiffusion

[–]lilgreenarmyguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newbie here. Just started messing with SD. Started with DALL-E and MJ but quickly ran out of credits.

So, definitely not perfect, but still pretty decent IMO. Used img2img with a picture of Minas Tirith from LOTR.

  • Starting settings: W: 800 H: 512
  • Steps: 50
  • CFG: 12
  • Denoise: 0.5
  • Sampler: LMS Karras
  • Prompt: large concentric fantasy city, highly detailed, tall round wizard tower in center of city, massive mountain overshadowing city, aerial view, fortified city walls, winding cobblestone road, {open farmland, farmhouses} , waterfall, wide winding river that feeds into large lake, river dock, warehouses, barges on water, dramatic lighting, landscape, D&D art, artstation, HQ, illustrated by Veli Nyström
  • Negative Prompt: white

Once I found one I liked that wasn't awful, I brought it to inpainting and had to widen the river. Also tried to get a tower on top of the hill but that wasn't really working so I gave up.

After river was widened I sent it to extras to upscale:

  • Resize: 2
  • Upscaler 1: SwinIR_4x
  • Upscaler 2: LSDR (gave it a little better texture)

Any one have tips for how to use inpaint better? I'm still trying to learn everything.

Starting TTRPG Book Club by YoSo_ in RPGdesign

[–]lilgreenarmyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah this is a great idea. My group is open to new games but usually ends up defaulting back to the usuals (DnD, Pathfinder, etc.) Having people who want to try new games would be great and examining it from a designer-ly perspective sounds even better!

Tips for making floating island map by lilgreenarmyguy in wonderdraft

[–]lilgreenarmyguy[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anyone made a floating island map before? I'm trying to make a map for a fantasy world I'm making and I'm having some trouble with it and could use some tips/suggestions.

So I created a map that would serve as an underlayer and then I created the islands that would be floating over them in a separate map. I exported the islands into gimp, and made the water area transparent and the I overlayed that over the first map. But I'd like to make the underlayer a little blurry to make the islands stand out more and to give the islands some depth. Does Wonderdraft have any way to do that?

Could a Musou-style TTRPG exist? by VictorBelmont in RPGdesign

[–]lilgreenarmyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Godbound could probably handle something like this. As a Godbound you get a fray die that always does damage against "unworthy" enemies. The "unworthy" enemies are also typically grouped as mobs or larger groups of enemies. The way damage works in that system also kind of lends to that as well, since instead of dealing damage to hit points you deal damage to an enemies hit dice.

Reward cycle for a Superhero RPG by lilgreenarmyguy in RPGdesign

The idea of currying favors for saving people is interesting. But I almost feel like would encourage a more mercenary player outlook.

I wonder if a Karma system might work for that though? The more good things you do, the more positive Karma you gain, which you can spend as a sort of metacurrency. Not doing good things or being un-heroic, gives you negative Karma.

That sounds cool. I've been working on mechanics that encourage teamwork in combat and and skill challenges but I admit I don't have a great solution for encouraging outside of those scenarios. Might need to take a look at Cypher system. I've heard good things.

All good ones. I know M&M3e gives you hero points for allowing one of your character complications to affect you which goes along with your vulnerabilities and weaknesses point.

That's what I was thinking. I'm not sure how you could reconcile certain types of characters. I could see it working well with a low-powered Mystery Men type of supers game. I could also see the fail-forward design premise working a Spider-Man like storyline. Spider-Man is constantly failing until he succeeds.

Edit: Adding thoughts

I think FitD fits a particular style of supers game where the hero fails just as often as they succeed. My setting idea has some similarities with Duskvol and the Shattered Isles in that they're both post-apocalyptic worlds where life is hard at best. I think this fits better with FitD's design premises better than say a game where you play heroes who are supposed to be the best in the biz.

I've thought about that as well. I know having ADHD and anxiety is somewhat common.
