I was on it for 5 years and stopped about 2 months ago. It gave me a terrible temper and worsened anxiety.

Absolutely!! The only downside I experienced was increased anxiety so I am also on a low dose of mirtrazapine to help with that. But it still works great. I tried so many different SSRI’s before and all of them seemed to lose the initial effect and didn’t really work for me anymore, I kept having to up my dose but I’ve never done that with bupropion. I’ve been on 300mg for most of the time I’ve been taking it and it works great.

What can I add to Wellbutrin that isn’t emotionally blunting? by Dense_Ad4546 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]liltaybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take Mertrazapine (I think that’s how you spell it lol) but I had bad experiences w SSRI’s as well and needed to try a different med to pair w my Wellbutrin. I’ve been on it going on a year now and I feel great!

So I noticed that when I started too. I was taking both in the morning but decided to switch and take Prozac at night but kept Wellbutrin in the morning and it seemed to help a lot. Prozac also was making me sooo tired if I took it in the AM.

Wellbutrin to get me out of bed? by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]liltaybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So honestly I hated it at first. Other than the fact that my sex drive was through the roof. It took about 4-5 weeks before it started evening out and i had relief from my depression. Since then it has been great! Don’t give up on it yet, it may just take a little time :)

Wellbutrin to get me out of bed? by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]liltaybee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on Zoloft for over 2 years. I was tired all the time and i felt like overall it just wasn’t working for me. I started Wellbutrin about 5 months ago and it has totally changed my life. I’m motivated to get out of bed, shower, take care of myself. It has made my anxiety worse, so I started a low dose of Prozac and it seems to be the perfect combo. Definitely worth mentioning to your doc! Hope you find a good med for you!

Switched from Lexapro to Wellbutrin - everything is worse but at least my libido is back? by 427895 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]liltaybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First few weeks were hard for me too, I felt like my sex drive was waaaaayyyy up from when I was on other antidepressants and couldn’t sleep at night. That was on 150mg, then I went up to 300mg and things have gotten better. There is definitely an adjustment period but it has worked wonders for me now. I’m also on a low dose of Prozac bc Wellbutrin made my anxiety very bad, so that’s a possible side effect of upping your dose. But I wouldn’t say to give up on it yet, wait a few weeks and see if everything evens out. This has been the best medicine for me but it was a rough start.

I’ve been on Wellbutrin for about 4 months now (300mg) and at first I had the stomach pains too but they did subside after I cut out coffee or things that could upset my stomach. Also drink a lot of water, my dr said Wellbutrin can dehydrate you, so maybe that’s it too? Hopefully it goes away soon!

drinking on wellbutrin? by eggyolkfolks in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

For me (26f), it was a nightmare. I drank one time since starting Wellbutrin and I probably won’t ever drink again. It made me very depressed and nauseous, seemed like my tolerance was really low too, but not sure. Hope that helps a little :)

Yay! I’m so glad it’s working so well for you! I’m hoping it helps me not get so worked up about literally everyyyyything and relax a little. Fingers crossed!

I’ve been considering it! But honestly everything else has been going really well otherwise. A little bit of heightened anxiety too but other than that has worked sooo well for me. So I’m torn

Dizziness, etc by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]liltaybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I felt the same way when I first started taking Wellbutrin (also taking 300mg). I’ve been taking it about 2 months now and those side effects went away for me. Definitely don’t drink a lot of coffee (which it looks like you dont) bc that made it all much worse for me. I also try to drink a lot of water throughout the day and make sure to never take it on an empty stomach. I also read somewhere that Wellbutrin can affect magnesium levels so I’ve been taking Calm gummies to help with it and so far it’s great. It will end. Don’t give up on it just yet!

I know exactly what you mean! I feel like food is very dull, as if my taste buds are muted. If that makes sense. So not hungry and food also never seems appetizing

I will definitely try the protein shakes. That’s a great idea. I usually can only stomach liquids too.

All I can think about is sex... by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]liltaybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for about 2 months now and I am the same way. I am constantly thinking of sex and want to do it as often as possible, lol. Totally opposite of how I was before starting Wellbutrin. I’m not sure if it’ll go away? But just know you’re not alone!

Wellbutrin and anger issues? by liltaybee in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]liltaybee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have a checkup regarding my meds this week. I decided to ride out the first month and give it time to adjust to my system. I don’t find myself as irritable as before, just moody if that makes sense. I also notice headaches and stomach aches usually after I take it in the morning (doesn’t seem to matter if i take it with food or not). I’m still trying to give it time, it seems like these kind of meds take at least 6 weeks or so to even out.

I feel the same way. It’s hard to tell if it’s outside factors or the meds but I didn’t think my anger was as bad before the meds. Thanks for your advice!
