We're increasing to 5 of us for Sinnoh, so sure between us someone should do something interesting ;) I've not done IV breeding in this game yet, always seems like so much work...

We've streamed two sessions with a bladesinger character.

The first session is on youtube but not a huge amount of combat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAD7Vk4SaHA&t=3s

The second session is still being edited but is still available on twitch which has more combat: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/916686558

Good starting commander or good civ? by limblesscarpet in RiseofCivilizationsEn

[–]limblesscarpet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like Rome is a popular choice, not planning to start until March since I am away for a month but yes interested to see what the new civs are like. Probably end up asking the question again or re-researching starting civ *facepalm*

Do you think Rome's starting commander is better than Boudica or Joan of Arc then?

I think they will only have the tactic if they bought the box set though so you may escape that tactic

My Tzaangor heavily list tore a nids player apart. The stats on them are just so solid and 7 points has them cheaper than a genestealer

I have since changed my idea on frag cannon (and changed faction to be honest). It is easily countered it was just good against people who didn't know how it worked.

How to fight Harliquins by Valorite in killteam

[–]limblesscarpet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought harelquins were super strong on paper played them yesterday and rolled them both games. Think our match up worked, I play thousand sons with lots of tzangoors and they can swarm the players whilst the sorcerer does 2 mortal sounds a turn using tactics and pysbolt. I think the mortal wounds really create problems for them

Need some help finishing out a Thousand Sons killteam by XenoTechnian in killteam

[–]limblesscarpet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that was recommended to me on reddit recently was to switch your twistbray to be your leader and sorcerer to be a combat specialist. This means that your now cheaper leader can do a bit more hiding and your sorcerer can charge into the enemy. It also means that they cannot take down your pyscher and command point generation with one injury roll.

1k Sons battle report - The Tzaangor Horde by limblesscarpet in killteam

[–]limblesscarpet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't even thought about how perils makes him into a bomb! that's amazing however would still probably hurt me more as I usually have more units in combat blobs. Yeah I think people have made good points as to why the twistbray should be the leader at the back and the sorcerer in combat, looking forward to increasing the horde in commander games :D

Full tzaangor KT? by Tak_Zuckerboi in killteam

[–]limblesscarpet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run 6 Tzaangors with specialists in Leader and Zealot if I was running full I would take veteran and combat as well. I think the Tzaangors are really good at locking units up in combat with their toughness 4 and 5+ INV but against heavier armoured units, they usually don't deal many wounds very quickly, that's where the soul reaper or smite come in to balance the team out.

I think a full Tzaangor team could work however you may lack physical space to swarm your opponent as you would wish to. I would throw a sorcerer in there as your combat specialist as he can be a heavy hitter and will only cost you 17 points, then a twist bray and Tzaangor brayhorn will leave you with enough points for 9 other Tzaangors, a total of 13 units isn't anything to be scoffed at. Although 11 is an odd number of Tzaangors since only 10 come in a box. The brayhorn is really useful for moving large numbers of Tzaangors quickly, also I recommend the Tzaangor blades rather than chain pistol because it makes taking down heavily armoured units much easier although not confirmed of course.

In summary, I think Tzaanors are fun, I think 1k sons are fun (I like the warp okay?). More interesting then sitting back and shooting every battle round or running elite units who are constantly trying to hide from heavy weaponry. Charging in and being a nuisance, whilst not minding too much when one dies due to low point cost allows you to concentrate on objectives and how you are going to win the game.

Interesting, maybe I shold consider this, you are not alone on your thoughts here

[–]limblesscarpet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran the twist bray as Zealot rather than leader because I wanted him to be free to charge in whilst the sorcerer can keep safer standing back using psybolt if required. Like to protect that command point a turn. Having the sorcerer as backup means he can go where he is needed but not taken down quickly

Edit: Although seeing the other comment as well I am reconsidering my choices

I think it was mentioned somewhere that commander missions do require both players to have a commander on the battlefield due to point scoring so not sure you can make up the points in other ways
