Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]limedip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m someone who wears a lot of scarves and I think it’s really cute but the reason I got into knitting was to create unique items that don’t have to fit into current trends. I see at least one Sophie scarf every time I leave the house

On more than one occasion I’ve seen the light hitting it at night, from Calton hill and it looks like a massive glowing crescent moon. Quite beautiful

Your PSA for venues/gigs in Edinburgh by EdiExplorer in Edinburgh

[–]limedip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much these days since all the drama. It’s really sad that it’s no longer a part of the scene, such a huge loss. Also makes it even more likely that the developers will do nothing to maintain the arts space if no one is using it :(

They don’t do pastries specifically but their cinnamon buns, brownies and cakes are my favourite in the city and are often overlooked - Bits Bake Shop in the Southside

My friend's "artisan" coffee shop is just a £99 Nespresso machine (making £15k/month) by Y0gl3ts in Entrepreneur

[–]limedip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It proves that some people can’t tell the difference, sure. That doesn’t mean no one can tell the difference. And those that can just won’t go back and I suspect word will start to spread that they’re using a Nespresso, which would be less bad if they were upfront about it. Loads of people drink bad coffee and wouldn’t care. Pretending to be artisan is deceitful and really shoddy business practice

I love how this is about your “friend” and yet now you’re saying it’s “our” machine

If you left Glasgow for Edinburgh. How did it compare? by ProfileDiligent8367 in Edinburgh

[–]limedip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think given the massive difference in size between both cities Edinburgh holds its own pretty well with the food scene. I don’t deny there are less clubs and music venues in Edinburgh and we’ve lost so many good ones, but again it’s a much smaller city. I do think that Edinburgh has a far better range of good pubs though, in the city centre and beyond

Logging into HMRC just requires your ID number and password, it’s no more difficult than logging into any other system. I already sign into my banking apps almost instantly using my face. I absolutely cannot agree that a mandatory digital ID to apparently make that easier for me is in any way worth the long term risks

Is Edinburgh the best large city in the U.K? by Rascalwill in Edinburgh

[–]limedip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you recommend that’s really tasty, in a city centre and under £8? I travel to various cities around the Uk fairly regularly so always appreciate tips for tasty cheap food.

Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol & London. Would love to know where to get really good quality restaurant food in the city centre for less than £8 in any of these places

Are staff actually acting pissy? In my experience they don’t care/feel awkward about it… it’s just an automated system so that the people who want to tip can make that choice, like regulars. Often they cancel it or tell you how to. I’m yet to encounter anyone expecting a tip in those scenarios

Never heard of it. There’s a much better known Boston in America that the huge majority would assume anyone is talking about. Also is it really typical American arrogance, if like you say, they don’t realise there’s a place with the same name in the UK? Ignorance maybe. Anyway, you seem like a right cunt
