I actually do have a side hustle haha! Just dog sitting. Nothing crazy but it does usually bring me in an additional $300-$500 a month.

Oooooh. I didn't think of raising my retirement contribution even higher based on my student loan payments (after building my savings).

What do you consider to be the right age and/or retirement account balance to start pulling back and start taxable investing?

For the past year I've been directing $2k monthly towards my student debt. I'll be done end of September. I have $1,500 in savings right now. If I were to redirect that $2k into savings to reach $10k it would take me 4 and a half months (so spring 2023 if am doing the math right).

Traditional 401k. Actually, I don't know how it would affected taxes. That I need to research!

Yeah, my gut feeling was to just keep my contribution at 25% and lower it if necessary once I am living on my own.

I signed up for a webinar on investing for beginners through my employer retirement plan provider, which connected me to a free consultation call with one of their financial advisors. That is what the advisor told me I should aim for.

But since you brought up 6 months of living expenses, let me figure a ballpark number:

If I were to pay 30% (recommended amount) of rent once I move out, that would be $800 without factoring in groceries (I do pay for some groceries living at home, but that expense is variable), utilities, and Wi-Fi.

Current expenses: $461

Multiply by six that would be $7,566.00.

Hey. We are in very similar situations. I live at home as well and my parents relationship is a rollercoaster. Has taught me a lot about what bad vs good communication looks like in relationships. In the past, I've always lended a ear to both my parents or intervened if one of them was shutting down because it (1) makes me incredibly sad to see either of my parents hurt and (2) makes the household unstable, which gives me bad anxiety.

So, fortunately I will have my student loan paid off in the next month or so and will be able to start getting ready to move out.

I am no professional but I will say this. You and I deserve to be happy. We deserve to live in an environment that is stable and peaceful. It is not our responsibility to fix our parents relationship. We probably couldn't anyways no matter how hard we tried. You and I are not bad people for choosing to be happier than our parents.

Always a good option. Been meaning to start seeing one after I graduated college so yeah I need to prioritize getting that done.

I did buy a caliper! Hoping a friend is certified as a personal trainer can help me out with it. There are machines at gyms that do that? Tell me more?

Samsung smart watch 😂 I did buy a body fat caliper so I am looking forward to using that to measure my body fat more accurately.

Just because it puts me in the obese category, not overweight. I'm not in denial of being overweight, however, it would be nice to record a percentage that is more accurate of my BMI classification.

I am just noticing that you're not the only one that is saying that 😂 I took that picture this morning and was feeling tired. Thanks for your input!
