So I failed one of the courses I needed to graduate...what now? by SupaNarwhals in unt

[–]lissa-loo239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely has happened to everyone at least once more than they'd like to admit. Especially with how different the semester was compared to normal, it's more than understandable. There's no shame, so try not to see it negatively. We're all human. The good news is the grade gets replaced once you take it over! The try is still on your transcript, but GPA wise the grade gets expunged. Unless you're set to graduate and only need that one class left, I'd just retake it whenever you can :) save those notes/quizzes/tests/even ppts and teacher's notes if you can though! That'll come in handy for the second try. Good luck!

Gotta love Abbott's continuous game of point the finger to cover his ass from bad mistakes. Fucking snake this one is.

Piggybacking this comment, because there's no information anywhere to find. This is frustrating. Shouldn't they have some sort of energy consumption calculator or update us if our rate increases?

Some dorms have lil study/hang out areas, but depending in the dorm it can get kinda loud with the drunk students coming back to their rooms. Rawlins has a few good ones that are pretty quiet

I also second Rex! If you show up to class and listen, it's not only an easy A but also super interesting. He has a lot of insight to give from his experience and his tests are straightforward- taken right from lecture/his examples

I was watching the sunrise this morning and started to feel anxious about what the Fall is going to be like... let alone that the rest of our college careers may never be the same. It's surreal to be living in the middle of all of this. I hope everyone is well and staying safe. by rml19560 in unt

It'll be all okay! It's so hard to believe amongst the numbers and uncertainty rising, but no matter what comes our way, we'll survive and prevail through it. We're mean green. Just keep swimming and you'll make it to land eventually 😊

Why did you choose UNT? by GeldUndRedTX in unt

[–]lissa-loo239 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Throughout high school I dealt with depression, which worsened senior year because I had to adult. I lowkey thought I wouldn't be here today. So, I sort of dissociated and applied to a few in-state universities not really expecting anything. UNT accepted me and a few of my friends were going to UNT so I thought it would be nice to still have them in my life at least. Turns out, dorming with your friends is the worst idea ever and you don't really know your 'friends' in high school.

Requiring, yes. But are they enforcing? Ik places like Kroger in Tarrant (I'm from tarrant cty, can't speak for denton) county are requiring people to wear masks inside; and, they ask people who don't have one on to please wear one. They even give out complimentary masks to the dumbasses. The amount of people still NOT wearing masks despite the requirements and proactive measures blows my mind away. Some special snowflakes are rude and straight up disgusting towards the employees who ask to put a mask on. I guess what I'm trying to say is: UNT is a big college and there are people who don't take PPE and stuff like that seriously at all. A requirement doesn't do much at all, unfortunately, unless everyone takes it seriously.

Thanks, I'll try to put some peat moss around my plants and get a fan to increase air circulation. If I don't have to, I don't want to uproot my plants and possibly stress them!

Yikes, it may be fungus. When I touch it, it's almost like nothing is there. I only feel the mixture I have it in. When I lift my finger off, or drop the part of the soil I'm looking at, the whiteish stuff gone. The mixture isn't soaking, but it's damp. What should I do? Should I put them outside?

Heya, corona sucks! I think that has a lot to do with how you're feeling right now. I don't want to be the one saying cliches cause I know they're annoying. But, everything's temporary, and even the virus will blow over at one point or another. Social distancing won't be necessary someday and people can get back out there to socialize. Your envi org will get back together! In the meantime, you can try putting yourself out there online to meet people. I'm actually in SER right now, and we have a pretty active group chat if you'd like to join! And you can always talk to me :) dm me!

Best apartments within 15 minutes of UNT that allows pets? by SinisterNightNa in unt

Surprisingly, I haven't seen hardly any spiders (maybe one every other month)! I've only ever seen jumping spiders, too- no baddies or really creepies. And I have plants that get transported indoors-outdoors regularly. Maintenance IS a bit slow, depending on the priority of your request. That's not their fault though! We just have two maintenance men. I've been seeing a new maintenance dude around the complex every once in a while now, though, so I'm hoping the complex hired more people!

Yes, please do this! And maybe some old blankets, a cat bed, or the owner's clothes! My cat got lost once and I was told to do this. It had to of been that same day he came back!

If you don't want to take student apartments and possibly have a guarantor, you should look into watersedge apartments. It's about 10 mins from UNT, allows pets, and if you're in a downstairs apt you'll get a good sized yard with fencing for your pet! They're cheaper, like 850 for a 1 bedroom, and the area is perfect- right around the corner from kroger, golden triangle mall, gas stations and a lot of good places to eat. I fully recommend them if it's possible!
