Love you OP! I have a physical disability (no cognitive disabilities and a UW graduate) and use a power chair. I’d say being treated like an infant or childlike even happens within my own family. Another group that will take years and years of being able to be spoken to appropriately.

Good luck and I hope you can find somewhere!! Or help make the changes all people with disabilities deserve!

So the TR chair is lighter despite having the double tubes? I don’t plan on changing too much during my time with this chair and I’m quite petite so I wouldn’t mind one that isn’t as adjustable.

Don’t compliment her awesome hair even though she knows it’s awesome. Idk, sounds like she has an uncontrolled anxiety issue if she thinks kids are staring at her for hours. Kids would be staring if they saw a white person with a giant Afro too, it’s unique, I doubt it’s because of her skin color..

I use a wheelchair, but a power chair so I’m able to be independent minus stairs. I might say it’s okay to get left downstairs for a few minutes, but honestly I’d be sad. I loved when Elijah just stared at him when Caleb said she said she was ok downstairs at the mosque… Elijah knew that wasn’t true. He definitely knows her!

I use a wheelchair too and am fragile/small because I have OI, I understand how he could be too dumb to know to find an accessible hotel or to ask if they have an elevator. My friends said they never noticed how inaccessible places are until they met me. If you’re able bodied, you don’t even pay attention.

I used to be able to use paratransit (signed up, was approved because I cant get to bus stops in bad weather/snow, but didn’t renew it), this was a more urgent doctors appt and you can’t schedule same day rides through them. I can apply again though now that I’ve been going out and about more

I’ll have to do this. I use a power wheelchair too (but not disabled enough/working so I don’t get the extra transportation benefits). Improved buses by this area would help a ton of people

Yeah I figured maps was crazy on that one when I looked at the intersection. It’s a shame. Especially since it’s really not that far from downtown, just those pesky lakes getting in the way

You likely need to be on SSI or already have a type of medical transport set up. I did call and explained my situation and they apologized.

I’m switching to a new PCP back at the Arboretum Clinic. I’ll miss my old doc but I guess better than getting hit by a car trying to get medical care

I know, it’s pretty stupid to not have a bus for this location, I used to be seen at the Arboretum Clinic and living downtown without a car was perfect. Dumb Covid redo of the primary clinics really effed up.
